Hi.

I am at 457 at 0621 (Retail and wholsesale trade manager)

Now, my ways to increase the score are:

Phd. (9 additional points)
Appear in French language test (upto 34 additional points)
Canadian experience - 1 year (85 additional points)
Verify my spouse's degree (10 additional points)
Improvement of score of IELTS of my spouse (upto 4 additional points)
1 year Canadian education (15 points)

Also in December, I will lose 5 points due to my age (I will turn 32).

I wonder what and what should I do to improve score. I have to consider time the effort will take, possibility of succeeding in it, scale of additional score that I would win, etc.

What do you guys recommend?

How easy is it to learn French and appear in one of the tests?

How easy is it to go find work in Canada for one year?

To be able to get a good score for French, you need to be able to get CLB7+, which means you have intermediate french skills and can communicate with slight difficulty in French with native French speakers. So, not recommended.

You should get your spouse's ECA and try to improve her IELTS. This would consume the least time to increase your CRS.

The easiest and most realistic option is to get an ECA for your spouse and increase their IELTS scores. If you get 14 more points, you should definitely get an ITA. Even 10 more (just the ECA) will be enough.

You really should have got an ECA for your spouse from the beginning. Now you'll lose five points before you get the ECA, but 14-5 = 9 will still get your score up to 466, which is a very good score.

You won't be learning french at an intermediate level within a couple of months. Even 6 months is really hard even if you're living in an immersion environment. So, that is out of the equation.

Lol, PhD takes at least 4- 5 years (depending on your field). So i doubt that is feasible.

Why didn't you get your spouse credentials assessed? (or you don't have spouse and need to get one in the next few months :p). Assuming you have a spouse that is the first thing you should do. And you and your spouse should study hard and max out your IELTS score. That is very doable in 3-6 months.

The idea is that you study for the IELTS instead of the PhD :p
