3yrs absence of study in Canada and reenter Study Visa

Hi everyone,

Could I ask an urgent question about my study visa? I need your help.

I am a university student and have a valid Study Visa from 2020 July to 2024 Feb. I did 1yr obligated on-line class due to Covid-19 and 2yrs obligation duty of military service in South Korea. As a result, I have 3yrs study absence in Canada.
I was told that I can use my current study visa to reenter Canada from the international student office in my university, but I'm not quite sure if i have to renew it or not. I don't have much time cause my semester starts in the beginning of September 2023.

Any advise will be very helpful!

Are you talking about the visa that you used to travel or the study permit?

Chances are since you quit studying your SP was cancelled, the school is supposed to advise IRCC you have stopped.

You should verify with IRCC whether your study permit is still valid. If you don’t continue to attend school your study permit is supposed to get cancelled. Do you have a new LOA from your school reflecting your new study period? The fact that you are only entering now and that your study permit will expire after one semester may lead to some questions.
