That's being too much of optimist. I guess it will be 480+

480+/-3

I wonder if there is any discussion in Canada... has any journalist asked the minister of Immigration about the current policy and future plans?
I would really like to know why they reduced the numbers of the draws...
Is it to compensate for the Syrian refugees?
Are they maybe keeping the numbers low because they plan to change the point system soon, and want to keep the quota to use it under the new points system?

I didn't know where I read this, but the low number of ITAs are too clear up the backlogs of paper files

The refugee situation played a part in this because they had to allocate more to them.
But with regard to express entry, the slow down of ITA's is because they needed more time to clear up the backlog.

Backlogs are not forever and since more provinces have closed nomination, that only means they will ease up on the cut off in a matter of months. :)

How long does it normally take to get a PR after ITA ?

After ITA there's document processing, medicals, perhaps interview and a few steps that take between 6 and 12 months

You receive your PR card within 60 days after landing (40-60 days if im not mistaken)

There is a video running around here in the forum, which is on youtube as well. A guy, who claims to be from IRCC, says that there is still a huge backlog of application from before EE and they expect it be cleared by the end of the year. So, around September or October, he says, that the number of invitation will go up to 2500 and therefore the points will come down to 400.

Here is the link;

We can argue about legitimacy of the video, but I believe him because even in the Year end report for 2015 stated the same about backlog being cleared by the end of 2016.

So lets hope this to be true and be patient. Thats all we can all do!!!!

PS: 36th draw definitely 480+ with 800 invitations

I would expect to see 460-490 over most of the summer.

Very encouraging news! :)
Experience taught me to be a bit skeptical of CIC though... I do not have a fair-play feeling about them...
