Very messed up situation. CIC is more than happy to open the country for some 50K refuges who until a few weeks ago we holding RPGs and attacking Bassar Assad Tanks in Syria and now come here without any security screening or prospect of future job or even the ability to speak English while many, many qualified candidates are left out and now they invite less than 1000 people this month.

Students come here, learn English, finish university degrees, pay through the roof, work hard and integrate in the society better than almost any new-comers to Canada and yet when it comes to being accepted or even considered as immigrants they are at the bottom of the list. As if Canada doesn't want them to stay.

Best of luck to those who haven't got their ITAs yet. Don't lose hope. I'm sure the 470 will go down again.

As unfair as it might sound to your situation and your life plan, I don't think it is nice of you to say that the Syrian refugees are less deserving than someone else. It's a humanitarian crisis and Canada has done an excellent job in accepting refugees. It's sort of how we look out for each other. Canada is doing more than most countries to help with the crisis. A little compassion could go a long way.

You have to understand these decisions are not made at random. There's a ton of factors at play here. Factors bigger than your life plan and my life plan. Factors you and I can not even fathom maybe. There's politics, there's national security, there's economic factors, there's international affairs and policies. Over simplifying this to Inland students vs Refugees is completely unfair.

Your best bet is to be patient and look at ways to improve your score. Good luck, man!

I waited since December at 441 and only recently after a word from WES i got bumped up.

Wow, I am shocked and disappointed that they are making 470 the new 450 This is sad news to a lot of PGWP holders :'( I wish all PGWP holders the best of luck. My PGWP expires July 29th, I am so happy and grateful that today I finally have enough points for an ITA! I haven't gotten the message yet, but I'm at 477 so I am extremely excited and relieved

To be honest they are not making anything. They just decided to take less. If the number of people applying become less 450 will go back being the new 450. It is not their fault that every human on earth wants to come to Canada

With the increasing concern about global warming, Canada seems to be pretty cool place!

Even with 2 year work experience and the best English scores, a PGWP holder doesn't stand a chance with this trend because all they can get is 469. This is getting more ridiculous and scary than I thought. Yet one still has to remain hopeful that one day the promise that has been made to help international students comes to bear.

Yep. Back in the Immigration Plan 2016 thread, many people were asking why we were freaking out due to the quota cut, they said it wouldn't effect much and kept saying the score will drop.

Now, 470 is the new 450. Welcome to 2016 where the quota is less and back-to-back draws are made up.

- Maximize your IETLS score
- Apply for PNPs
- Marry a Canadian
- If all those thing fail, pray to every Gods you know. If needed, offer them your firstborn.
