Hi Aspire, Ia lready received last December from the CRNM to go for Competency Exam for maternal Nursing, Child Health, General Nursing and Self Assessment. Hai, may SEC na rin pala sa manitoba. Have to prepare for the assessment. Moving to Manitoba by march. Musta ka na Aspire. nasa Winnipeg ka na ba?

What? they have asked you to undergo for SEC? How come? We have identical IQAS, have'nt we? How could they ask you to undergo SEC programs if your IQAS says you have an education equivalent to that of the nursing degree in Canada? Probably they changed the rules again? Or maybe working experience matters?

I am still in Saudi Arabia. Working visa application takes 8 weeks to process if there are no retest with the medicals. With how my PR application is going on, I think me and my family will land Canada on working visa.
If you think you have enough experience on these areas where they asked you to undergo SEC, I would suggest you make an appeal before CRNM. CarribRN if I remembered this right, once asked by CNO to undergo SEC but made an appeal which was later on granted and was given the eligibility to take the CRNE. If you wnat you may ask her.

BET is really just an essay. There is no format to follow. You"ll basically just be asked to site an example, in essay form, as to how you will demonstrate your competency in a particular area/s of nursing. As in my case I received essay questions that goes "something like":

Site an example wherein you're able to demonstrate a strong problem solving skill/s in your nursing practice.

and so on and so on..

there were questions related to research, clinical skills, medical knowledge, continuing nursing education and technology and I can't remember the others as I don't have a copy saved in my computer.

hi carib thank you for your response..

do you have your eligibility from CNO? how does it went with your BET results?

im quite anxious about this BET.. but i guess i just have to wait for it.. :)

i think the easiest or fastest nursing bodies in canada is VANCOUVER. BC ?

because they already grant me an eligibility before..
they also have the lowest requirements for ielts..

hi is this applicable both in academic or general?

because according to the site of CNO and their forms..
the ielts requirements to the universities are 6.5 in reading, writing and listening..7 in speaking?

in vancouver,bc..the ielts requirements are lower than ontario..they only require total of 6.5..and you
can have 6 in any modules..

but if this is true..then this is good news!! ;D

Yes, I have the eligibility already after filling out the BET and writing an appeal letter and submitting all the certificates from my continuing education. The appeal letter and the certificates were not required it's just an initiative on my part to help them assessed my paper favourably. Thankfully the assessment did ended up in my favor. I am a second-courser by the way.

What happened was they assessed my paper and said that my curriculum from the Phil is not equivalent to theirs so they have asked me to either fill out the BET or withdraw the application and pursue other options (by other options, I was made aware by their Cust. Service could be applying instead for LPN or do a bridging program). I opted to fill out the BET which, it turned out was a wise decision.

but if you're going to a univeristy (nursing bodies in canada)..you need an academic results.

It is ture that CNO need higher scoreonly 0.5 but instead they accept also General Treaining which makes a huge different.
