My husband had his second (security) interview yesterday in Vienna. The Officer told him that they will have an answer for us very soon. His app originally started in Nov '08 so it's been quite a wait. My husband asked if the 'very soon' means another 2 years, and she said 'no' it will be soon because this is the last stage of the process. Has anyone had a 2nd interview? and how long did you wait for an answer?? or any similar situations...Thanks

Was there anything unusual about his case? It seems to be taking an extremely long time compared to most of the European cases?

Does it that long ?

What, since Nov. '08? So far this is the timing of sponsoring your parents to come to Canada 2+ years ???

Everything moved pretty quickly. He had his first interview in Feb 09. After the interview they started background checks...and this is what took the 2 years. The only issue was that he was of Serb nationality who was born and raised in Croatia during the war. He left Croatia at the age of 18. Also in those countries all men are required to attend Military service, so this was another issue I guess. We really don't know why it's taking this long as usually people get their PR in about a year or less. I personally don't know anyone that waited this long from these countries. The good thing is that the background checks are hopefully done since they called him for the security interview where they asked more questions about the military.

Hi, Glad its all over for you ! almost ......I found out CSIS had sent their assessment back on me to CIC in October 2010 , and still I have no answers :o so my guess is for your answer approx 3-5 month ( hopefully ) thats all my security check took for time wise.

It's frustrating how much they make us wait. I mean they take so long to do the background checks than they have the security interview and still make you wait. It doesn't make sense why they haven't given you a decision yet if the CSIS had sent back the info in October. I guess the sense of urgency is not there. Hopefully we will all here good news SOONNNN!!!

Hopefully yes, How did the interview go ? I remember I was a nervous wreck LOL even though I knew what it was about LOL , I had to re do meds Jan 2011 and oh boy do I hate going to do that ..doctors make me nervous ;)

My husband sais the interview went well. We also knew what they were going to ask him. My husband was calm and answered all the questions. He said that the lady who interviewed him was very nice. She even shook his hand in the end. She assured him that he will have a decision very soon. He also will need to re-do medicals as they expired over a year ago. Did they ask you for new meds, or did you just go ahead and do them? Also at your interview did they tell you a time frame of how long you need to wait for the final decision after the security interview?

The guy that interviewed me was also very helpfull , he shook my hand at the end and told me I didnt have to attend the interview and he was very thankfull I did, he then explained , he assessess the interview , then they pass it to his boss to look at , then it gets sent to the mininster of CIC for a decision ..so it basically ends up in a queue again ! at Ottawa .

Yes they sent a letter to re do meds as they expired in Dec 2010 , but I was so angry cos I knew CSIS had done with me in October, I had SIRC involved , it was they who told me CSIS had done and their lawyer signed a postal receipt to sign off.

That sucks....but the good thing is by them asking you for new meds, that means that you will get your PR very soon.
Basically my husband was told the same thing....the file is sent back to Ottawa for review and than they will have a decision.

Good Luck ! I hope you hear good news very soon too , its a long painful wait ..are you living together here or in Europe still ?

I'm here, but he's still in Europe. This is why it's been so hard. We'v been apart since June '08. We decided to apply Outland bcs usually they say the processing is time is less, but in his case it dragged out.
At least we know it's almost over. What killed me is the 2 years when we didn't hear anything from them.
Keep me posted on your PR. I think you will here in the next couple of weeks. Good luck

OMG that must have been hard for you being apart ! Im sorry for you both :( but the future for you being together is coming closer , you have waited the longest part , just hang in there :) I thought if you were married you could live together here ? or is it complicated ?

Thanks for the good luck wishes .. :)

it's complicated...he left canada and now can't get a visitor visa so yes it's comlicated :)
