Congrats for BIL! About the account I did not recommend link it to your GC Key as yet since your lawyer will do all the first steps and he will communicate with you for any further needs, but later for p1 and p2 yes if you want.

P1 (Portal 1 Email) : The first email IRCC sends when your permanent residence (PR) application is near finalization.
P2 (Portal 2 Email) : The follow-up email IRCC sends after they process your reply to P1 and create your account on the IRCC Permanent Resident Confirmation Portal.
The P2 email provides your login credentials for the portal. Once logged in, you must:
• Confirm that you are physically present in Canada.
• Provide your current Canadian mailing address (where your PR card will be mailed).
• Upload a digital photo that meets IRCC specifications.

Congrats again and you will get your PR soon!

Some updates :

Applied: March 7 2026
Temp AOR: May 28 2026
Perm AOR and Application Linked to GCKEY: OCT 28 2026
BIL: Nov 6 2026
BIL Appointment: Nov 16 2026

Any comments on what will happen after the BIL appointment? One of my friends waited for like a year to get the P1 and P2 messages. I have seen some of the timelines on the forum and they're very promising :)

Thanks to all!

protected person decision on May 2026
Submitted PR May 22 including family with two kids 3 and 8. Family is in Bangladesh still.
Received temporary XG August.
Did not receive AOR yet.

Called IRCC and mentioned it is still in progress at their end and 10 months more left for final decision.
Since you received your temporary file number (XG) in August, hopefully your AOR will arrive soon. Hopefully, your application will move forward without further delays,

Since your lawyer submitted the application, you can ask them whether they have linked it to an online IRCC account. You may also be able to link your application to your own IRCC secure account to monitor updates, but coordinate with your lawyer first to avoid any confusion.
Regarding P1 and P2:

P1 (Portal 1): IRCC sends an email asking you to confirm that you are in Canada and provide details such as your email address and residential address.
P2 (Portal 2): IRCC sends portal login instructions so you can confirm your presence in Canada, provide your address and upload a photo for your PR card.
eCOPR: Once IRCC completes the final steps, your electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residence is issued through the PR Confirmation Portal.
For now, follow your lawyer's instructions and complete your biometrics when you receive the appointment details. Good luck with the rest of your journey!

Thanks to all!
After completing your biometrics, IRCC will continue processing your application, including eligibility, background and security checks, as applicable. You may receive further document requests or medical instructions if required.

Once the required assessments are completed and a final decision is made, you may receive Portal 1 (P1), followed by Portal 2 (P2) and eventually your eCOPR.

Processing times vary considerably from one application to another, so try not to compare your timeline too closely with others. Hopefully, your application moves smoothly and you receive P1 much sooner than your friend did. Good luck!
