I'm really sorry to hear that. It’s frustrating because they often delay files for what seems like no reason at all.
You could look into applying for mandamus to force a decision, but be careful. I’ve heard recently that if your file is stuck in comprehensive security screening, the court will likely rule in favor of IRCC. Their argument is that national security checks are out of their hands and managed by secondary agencies like the CBSA and CSIS, so the judge usually gives them a pass on the delay
I dont think about mandmus it is pointless and it takes long time too

Thank you for your response. Honestly, if my wife and child were here, I wont be stressed but they are not here. We are already protected persons and we live in peace here in Canada and can travel out on vacation if we want but what about our families. How safe are they?. I am alone here for 5 years now and the earlier I get my PR, the quicker they get here.

Hello everyone,

I would appreciate your opinion on my Protected Person PR application. I’m trying to find anyone with a similar GCMS timeline.

Timeline:
  • Protected Person PR application: September 2023
  • Primary office: CPC Mississauga
  • Secondary office: Montreal
  • New biometrics requested in July 2026 and completed the next day.
Latest GCMS / CBSA notes (late July 2026):
  • Eligibility: Passed
  • Criminality: Passed (Bio)
  • Medical: Passed – Exempt
  • Info Sharing: In Progress
  • Security: Officer note says “In Progress” (although the assessment summary still shows “Not Started”)
  • Processing Assessment: Non-Complex
  • BF Date: 15 August 2026
  • No additional document requests (police certificate, military record, etc.) after biometrics.
  • No Review Required or other visible concerns in my notes.
Questions:
  1. Has anyone had a similar GCMS profile?
  2. How long after a Non-Complex Processing Assessment did you receive Portal 1 (P1)?
  3. If your file was processed by CPC Mississauga with Montreal as the secondary office, how long did it take after security/info sharing?
Thank you in advance.
Do you live in Quebec or Ontario?
