Hi everyone! Hope all is well.

I had an update today for my dependant, we have received the medical exam and fingerprint request for my spouse which is overseas. Though I haven't received FD as the main applicant yet. I never heard that a dependant receive medical without the main applicant being approved or getting FD, any thoughts on this? And is it a good sign?

Plus, she received the fingerprint however she had her fingerprint couple years ago for visitor visa, do they need another fingerprint for PR? Is it new? I thought the fingerprint is valid for 10 years, regardless of the application.

Pls advise on both questions
Thankss

Congrats, she does not need to do again. You just need to submit biometric recipe as a proof via webform.
Which visa office send the medical request by the way?

Being positive, if the processing times are true and I'll get PR on June [I'm August 2023 applicant], what can I do if I have a planned trip out Canada in July 2nd?
May I travel only with my refugee travel document like before?
Comments please about similar experience. Thanks.
I travel regularly with RTD countless times for work and leisure and no issues, waiting for the right time or waiting for IRCC before travel is a mistake, as long as you have RTD and you have the money to travel, please do it. Everything is always smooth.

Good news
Applied: 10 April 2023
Final decision: 7 April 2026.. i cant believe it. Hopefully you guys have good news soon. All the best.
Did you know how long the security steps usually take to be completed for your case? Or is it possible that the security process has not started yet even after reaching the final decision stage (FD)?

We can see that some of ours timeline has been updated to one month, but the security step still shows as “not started.” I’m confused about how this process works and what I should expect next.

Its a good sign that your file is moving. Congrats. As for the biometrics, its normal. When you apply for PR for the first time, IRCC usually ask for a fresh biometrics for whatever reason. Biometrics for temporal resident permits like study permit, visitors visa etc are not valid for PR. I have given 3 biometrics myself. One for my trv, one for when I applied for asylum and one for my PR.

Guys, there’s finally good news

I originally applied on paper on January 7, 2021.

In March 2023, I received a call from IRCC (unknown number) informing me that my file was no longer available due to an administrative error. After waiting almost 2 years, I was asked to reapply through the online portal so it could be finalized quickly. But that never happened.

Timeline:

  • Reapplied: April 10, 2023
  • Eligibility letter: June 2025
  • Portal confirmation email: April 9, 2026 (just submitted my details)

It’s been a very long and exhausting journey, so I’m not even overly excited—but I’m truly grateful that it’s finally coming to an end.

Stay hopeful, everyone. Your turn will come too ✨

Hello guys. Ive been following this forum for like two years. So I wanted to share my joy with all of you that are in same boat.

Today I received the email for to complete my data and they will send me the portal for permanent residence. I dint received final decission email, just this email at once.

Im August 2023 applicant ; in the letter with the instructions appears like non complex case ( so why take so long?)

I have dependents overseas, husband and minor daughter.

I was on my knees today giving thanks God after this long , hard, stressful journey, more than 4 years.

Please keep strong and with hope. They are working in the files. Now I know it.

My best wishes for all and thanks for the good messages shared during these years.
