The C12 bill has been passed and it is clearly written in it that our PR application can be rejected for any reason. So nervous

Even though Immigration decisions still have to follow existing laws and regulations procedural fairness, documented reasons tied to your file, officers still base decisions on eligibility, background checks, documents, etc. It’s not arbitrary in the way it sounds. NO need nervous.

It does not affect the protected person as much as affecting the CEC category. Because they cant return a protected person or revoke the positive decision. Bc then what was the point of approving the decision if they gonna get send back plus they announced the one-time initiative for protected person . So it doesn't make sense to grant 115k PR for protected person but laso cancel their PR applications. This really applies to refugee claimants

Yeah but then what happens in the scenario where someone actually lied / fraud during their refugee claim, got protected status, and then even got PR?
Like are IRCC saying “well, too late now, enjoy the PR/ passport ”? We will focus upcoming frauds prevent with C-12?

Yes, this point was also coming to my mind, but since they have also written that they can terminate anyone's PR by justifying any point, then it can affect protected person as well. Apart from this, there is also news that many refugee claimants are being rejected. I was getting confused, but after reading your words, I am getting some relief. Thank you.

There is also a reason to be very worried because Everyone's permanent president has been on hold for two months.

Still doesnt make sense, if thats the case then they gotta go after everyone who got their PR through refugee from past few years which is something around like 300k applicants.

And in the scenario where someone lied or fraude then thats IRCC fault that they didnt catch them OR their PR application gets canceled. But if you are already permanet residence beside security issues or danger to public they CANT just revoke it.

But again another brilliant policy by this stupid liberal government, they created the problem in first place themselves and now they trying to fix by canceling people's applications.

Not the 2024 applicants, its the 2023 applicants that is on hold but ive heard that they waiting on the budget for one time initiative to be rolliing out in april so eveyone gonna get it.

Bc again why would they announce 115k one time initiative for "protected person" if they gonna cancel them all.

They could have just not annouce that and wait for bill C12 to get approved and start mass cancelation. End of the day i dont think this bill applies to protected person as long as you didnt comitted fraud

Even after someone becomes a protected person and later a permanent resident (PR), Canadian authorities can still go back and act if the status was obtained through fraud or misrepresentation.
If Immigration, Refugees and (IRCC) or the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) finds out that a refugee claim involved lies or withheld facts, they can start enforcement action even years later.

Yes but this was true even before Bill C12. On the website it literally says "The authorities don’t affect asylum claims (applications for refugee protection) and don’t give the government power to grant, change or revoke status, such as permanent resident and temporary resident status".
So they cant just revoke it. It has to fall under the Fraude or public safety which it was rule before this bill anyway
