I submitted my application in March 2023. In my GCMS notes, I saw that a comprehensive security screening (A34) was requested in February 2025. I thought this screening was normal until I read a comment that made me concerned.
I don’t understand why it was requested, as I’m a peaceful person, never involved in the military, and have done nothing wrong.
Is this type of screening common for all protected persons, or just for me? Has anyone else gone through it? How long did it take? I’ve heard it can take 17 months or more—is that true?

did u hide your travel history or something else process takes longer than 17 months security screnning 34 code associate with terorist groups spy maybe problem your country i mean they gonna search u well i hope they do in a short time
I haven’t left Canada in over six years and haven’t hidden anything from them. I’m an academic, far removed from that kind of activity. But my country is a conflict zone.
Did they request this from you? If so, how long did it take?
