2016 applicants still waiting?

I am july 2016 applicants but no update since oct 2016 when mvo asked for additional correspondence.
Nov 2016, no response over a year and just coupke weeks ago, recevied an email requesting an appointment on Feb 1st.

Medical passed - june 11
My Wife finished her interview last week. but the officer said to her that they received a letter from someone say that:
The officer was reading the letter from his laptop:
she is a fraud, her schooling is fraud, her dad paid someone to get the university transcript. She never finished her elementary school (grade 9). She is a smuggler from India. She was married 2 time before but got Divorced due to her bad character. she is 30 years old. born in 1980.
Of course, it's not true what they said in the letter.
Now we don't even know what's happening.
I can't believe someone would do this to us. we are just trying to get our life together and someone just does this. try to mess up our life.
why do they have to do this for?
My wife was in tears, and embarrassed.

Wow. Sorry this happened if it's not true. Did the officer say that based on this this evidence that your application was going to be refused?

Nope it can't be cancelled,
He said they are going to look into her school and university and once everything comes back real then they will ask her for her passport.
the letter just made false claims.
it will be fine its just going to take some time for the officer to look into her school papers and if she is telling the truth.
but I can't believe someone in my family would do this. they have this much hate for my wife. she has done nothing.
it's so heartbreaking , she actually could of been in Canada last because i did order Notes from immigration and one officer did say:
"interview not required and he was pleased with our documents."
but 3 days later they wanted to interview her. which was really fishy.
the moral of the story is " don't tell anyone about anything, even family"
If that is the moral of the story then no wonder CIC has questions about the validity of her documents ...
I think he meant that people can be so infernally wicked as to vindictively concoct lies.

We are 2016 applicants, had gone through medical exam, police certificate, and Quebec Selection Certificate (since we live in Quebec), but since end 2016 there is no response. We tried to send emails for follow-up steps, but only reply we got so far is that the file is currently under review and requires additional verification, therefore the assessment period will be outside of our processing times... And they will contact me if any further information required.
Is that normal? My friends around got their PPR in early 2017 but not sure what went wrong...
