2014 income and option C printout for Sponsoring Parents in Jan 2015

Hi All,

I have not been able to find a clear answer to my following question on this forum or cic website or in the ops manual.

I would like to sponsor my parents (father and mother both) for PR. My income for 2011 is less than the MNI as per the instruction guide because I have half year income only in 2011 (I started living in Canada in the middle of that year). Years 2012, 2013 and 2014 I have more than sufficient income to sponsor them as per the federal MNI table.

I have 2 questions:

1. Would option C printout from CRA for year 2014 (income and deductions till Nov 2014) suffice as proof of income for 2014?

2. If the answer to the above is yes, then where and how should I put my 2014 income in financial evaluation form imm5768? The form only has columns for 2011, 2012 and 2013. It says in the instruction guide that only income from 2011, 2012 and 2013 is accepted, which is contrary to the ministerial instructions saying past 3 years income before the application date is accepted and backed by CRA documents (NOA or option C printout).

Could someone shed some light on my 2 questions above?

Note: If you are applying in 2015, you must provide proof of income from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the taxation years of 2013, 2012, 2011.


You cannot use your 2014 income, so you will need to wait until 2016 to sponsor your parents.

You can't get an Option C printout for only a partial year. Your 2014 Option C printout won't be available until you file your 2014 taxes and CRA processes it, which will most likely be in Feb-March 2015 at the earliest. And by then the PGP program will already be closed, hence the reason 2011/12/13 tax details are required.

I requested CRA to send me all the option C printouts that are applicable to me. The package I received did not contain year 2014 so I believe you are correct and I think I am not eligible to apply until 2016.
