2 Open Work Permit Applications - same time

I currently have 2 open work permit applications happening together with my application for Permanent Residency.

I submitted an extension to my IEC existing work permit prior to it expiring and prior to receiving the ITA. This work permit will be declined due to no LMIA.

I also have now applied for a BOWP to bridge my expiring Open Work Permit to my PR application.

Is there an issue in having 2 applications pending for an open work permit and could the rejection of the extension impact the BOWP?

p.s. the extension to IEC was a paper based application so it cannot be canceled online / it has not been processed yet.

When did you apply for the BOWP? The BOWP application needs to have been submitted before your IEC expired in order for the BOWP to have a chance of being approved. This is all that really matters - when your IEC expired and when your BOWP application was submitted.

I submitted the BOWP before my IEC visa expired I was just wondering whether the eventual refusal of my IEC extension application would have any impact to the BOWP.

I have confirmed with IRCC that it will not impact on my BOWP

I don't think there will be any impact. You are good since the BOWP was submitted while your IEC was still valid.

Hi,

My PR application has been approved {have got the “PR PORTAL (PR CONFIRMATION)” mail}, however, my BOWP application has still not reached any decision. Will my BOWP application be automatically cancelled now? Please let me know.

Thank you!
