Yup. But hitting the 2 year mark is good advice. I was at about 26 months when I filed, got the oath invite about 3 weeks later
Hi I want to get your advice about mandamus route. I don’t know how to file mandamus. Can I file it by myself or do I have to go to a lawyer. How much does it cost? Which lawyer I should choose ?
Can you please give me some more details?

There are threads on mandamus you might want to look at

After reading all the forums above, I will start to lawyer up for a writ of mandamus (and first the intention of doing so). 24 months of processing with or without RQ while you believe in your residency and also have no background issues is not acceptable.

Another thing that now bugs me was a point during my comversation with the officer. Knowing I had waited for a long time and could not have qualified unless the law had changed to 3/5, at the very beginning of the interview,
she was giving me a comment like this:
“sooooo, finally the law changed and you could apply eeh?”

Right then, I asked myself what kind of question is that for a 10 min interview but I thought it is some sort of relaxing question. I have every right to now question her intentions that she didnt like to let my file easily pass from the very beginning while she knew I have waited exactly for the right time before I applied. In any case I now dont find this question funny at all.
Were you not qualified if the law didn’t change to 3/5 ? Or were you out of Canada for more than 6 months in a year during the eligibility period ?
