Hi there!

I have a doubt regarding the hours. Please kindly help me with this so that I would know whether I am eligible or not.

I was doing a part time job in an essential category. I was working from June 2019 to April 2021.

So it's almost 1 year and 11 months. My total hours are more than 1560.

And I am currently employed and doing an IT job.

I am wondering whether I am eligible or not.

I heard in case of part time they would count only 15hrs instead of 20hrs. In that case I would need to work 2 years right?

Hi guys, are PT hours counted as 1/2 of FT length, if someone works for 20 hours on PT per week would it be calculated as 2/3 of FT length or 1/2 of it?
Also, would they consider average of total PT hours over the duration as I got my pay bi-weekly and not on weekly basis so hours are reflected on bi-weekly basis. Please share

Hi Scylla or another senior member - can you pls refer to the table below and tell me if am calculating my experience for CEC correctly? I worked in NOC 4012 part time and recently secured a FT job in NOC 1112. The 4012 job provided me RoE with the hours worked - I used that to back calculate the number of hours worked every week. Per my calcn - I need 10 more weeks of experience to qualify for CEC. Am I missing something?

Hi guys I have 1 full year of experience in Canada but I have 1 day less of 1 year experience back from India (9 sep 2017 to 7 sep 2018) can I add it as 1 year of experience from India because I have 1560 hrs for 52 weeks I am confused.

You can certainly try. It will be up to IRCC if they accept it. I think it's worth a shot.

Note that you unfortunately won't qualify under CEC since this work experience was too long ago. However you can try using it under FSW.

Hi Guys, Here's my situation.

I started working in Canada on ICT permit from 7/12/21. went vacation outside Canada for 12weeks (10/1/21 - 1/28/22) out of which 6 weeks vacation and 6 weeks WFH remote. Question, When do I complete 1year CEC experience?

1. 1year CEC experience by 7/12/21 + 1year = 7/12/22?
2. 1year CEC experience by 7/12/21 + 1year + 6weeks (WFH remote) = 7/12/22 + 6weeks?
3. 1year CEC experience by 7/12/21 + 1year + 6weeks (WFH remote) + 6weeks (Vacation) = 7/12/22 +12weeks?

You can only count work experience where you were physically working in Canada. So you cannot count the WFH that was done outside of Canada. You can count the vacation weeks as long as they were paid.

Yes. It's Paid vacation as I have the proofs to show the vacation request submitted in our employer system internally if necessary. Since system calculates 1yr by 7/12/22 and in case if I get ITA, should I reject and wait for ITA 6weeks after 7/12/22 or accept ITA, but submit docs 6weeks after 7/12/22?

You can accept ITA but don't submit your application until you've made up the 12 weeks of work outside of Canada.

you just said in your 1st comment above paid vacation counts, but said in your 2nd comment to wait for 12more weeks instead of 6? Confusing..

1 year 10 month is 1 year.

1 year 11 months and 30 days can be counted as 2 years.

Regardless whether you work 30 or 90 hours in a week - it's still only counted as one week and you need 52 weeks of experience to make 1 year. You can't carry extra hours over to make another week.

What about 10 months and 2 days?

The 2 days is Jan 31st and Dec 1st respectively.

In EE profile, he can enter work experience from Jan to Dec, which is 12 months, and he will be invited to apply for PR as such, but he actually worked only 10 months and 2 days.

Does this count?
If not, who is responsible for this if PR officer rejects him because of this?
He did nothing wrong in this case. His work experience is indeed from Jan to Dec, and it is the EE system that invited him.

10 months and 2 days is less than a year. No, this certainly won't count as a year of work experience.

The applicant is responsible is responsible if the application is refused.

@scylla I created my express entry profile and current score 390.
job offer 50 points not yet added.
one year Canadian experience per system calculation completes Jun 1st 2022 since started Jul 12th 2021.

Technically I complete 1 year exp by Aug 18th 2022 as 6 weeks remote added from Jul 12th 2022.

How many extra points do I get after completing 1year? 50 + 90 total 140?
