guys anybody in the same timeline as I am? CIC received application Nov. 2012 which means my 14th month is Jan 2014. If by end of January my spouse does not get her visa that means the processing of our papers is over the normal 14 months already for Philippine applications. Her passport was requested way back in Sept.. Its been 5 months now that the Canadian embassy in Manila is holding on to her passport. Any of you guys on the same boat?

Hi Cruise,

My application is older than yours - Sept 24, 2012 and I'll be at 16 months in 14 days. Check out the posts on the English Thread for Manila and you'll see others who are on a similar timeline. While my wife is visa exempt and they're not holding her ppt, it's equally frustrating.
Soon time to start ratcheting up the pressure!

that's really frustrating. 16 months? the rule is we can inquire on a case specific basis if the process takes longer than the normal processing time for Manila based applications which is 14 months. Did you inquire?

yes, I just did last week through my MP's office. It's the only way you'll get any kind of response but it will basically tell you squat. Wait until after your 14th month. CEM is famous for never responding to inquiries or emails. I was in Manila in November and thought about going to the embassy but was told they wouldn't even let me in the door without an appointment.

It gets more and more frustrating each day. I am on my13th month sponsoring my husband. I am worried this will stretch out until the 14th month. :(

I'm in the same boat as you all. Wife and I are at 14 months.

I couldn't wait anymore till the end of my 14th month this January 2014, I emailed the Manila embassy last week. That was 4 days ago and still no response. Its frustrating that the embassy will hold on to the applicant's passport for so long. My spouse's passport has been with them since the first week of September 2013. All in all, 14th month now since they acknowledge the application with the passport with them for 5months. Will appreciate you guys sharing your timeline if you are more or less on the same application date (Nov. 2012). Just want to get an idea when we can receive our visa

Manila is staffed by a punch of idiots.

Hi JRPW, did you try to email your case under "case specific inquiries" since you are past the 14 mos. processing time?

Yes, I did. However, I got no response to my inquiry for a status update. They did reply to me after I informed them of our change of address. Contact your MP to do a MP request. Manila always responded to my MP's inquiry.

MP is a member of parliament, they can help. They asked for our passports me and my kid last May 2013 and asked me to send appendix A and a new NBI clearance. Then July they asked for new medicals. Since our passport will gonna expire April 2014 I went to MP (good the office is just near our place) I talked to the secretary to know the status of my application. Week passed I went back to MP to know the result. She said she called and the immigration and told her that I should wait till October (2013) since it was still in the processing time, that time it was 12 mos. I told the other secretary that I cannot wait anymore cause my passport will gonna expire and I cannot book a ticket to go home. I cannot even renew it cause it was in manila embassy and I am here in Canada. I was begging them to talk and explain my problem to the immigration she promised to call. Two days letter she called and wanted to talk to me. She told me that i will get my visa end of august. First week of September I was DM and 3 days after visa issued.

I think the MP that represents the district something like that. No I didn't set an appointment I just went there after my work. We're lucky that he has an office here in our place. But I never met him it's just the secretary that entertained me and they were very helpful. I almost cried to them to explain in the immigrating about my expiring passport. And I think the secretary got pity on me.
