Dear Qorax,

When we will land in Alberta, my wife will be 12 to 14 week pregnant. Currently there is ectopic pregnancy anomaly in the pregnancy however, we are hopeful to control it before landing. My question is although Permanent Residents are covered in Alberta's Healthcare plan yet what could be average expenditures per month ( if any) one have to pay for pregnant woman.

Sorry to hear that...
I'm sure by now u r already aware of the complete scenario of Eccysis [Tubal Pregnancies] - so, pls take appropriate medical counselling & a wise/r decision.

And Kanamen has a valid point there too.
We pray that things'd work-out well for u guys and the mother & child will be hale & hearty!

Said that, as your medicare shall be available from day-1, u have no fear of any costs towards hospitalization, physician & clinical services. However, drugs will be a serious expense nonetheless. And with that anomaly u may be looking at a severe dent in your pocket.

BTW, u may also like to touch-base with this org, imdt upon landing:

When your AHCIP coverage begins
The effective date of your coverage is based on the following:

1. If you move to Alberta from within Canada your coverage begins the first day of the third month following the date you establish permanent residency here. For example, if you establish permanent residency in Alberta on July 12, your coverage is effective October 1.

2. If you move to Alberta from outside Canada your coverage begins on your date of arrival in Alberta.

Please note:
-You are not covered for medical services under the AHCIP until all the required information is received and your application is processed. However, any medical services you receive and pay for before your application is processed may be reimbursed once you have your personal health card and can show eligibility for the period when you received the services.

-If the Application for Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan Coverage is not received within 90 days of the date you arrive and establish permanent residency in Alberta, Alberta Health and Wellness will determine the effective date of your coverage.
