Hi guys,

Is my work experience below considered 1 year full-time job for CEC requirement? Will this also fit under FSW requirement by any chance? (I also worked at other jobs before but just looking at this particular work experience here..I want to make sure if this current job only fits for CEC, and FSW if possible) Any feedback much appreciated..!!!!

Current Job)

Part time --> January 10 2015 to August 8, 2015 = 443.54 Hours (part time hours varied)

Full Time --> August 22 to March 31, 2015 = 1280 hours (40 hours a week)

Both together part time and full time = 1723.54 hours

CEC Requirement

30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

Part time

15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
OR
30 hours/week for 12 months at more than one job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

Did you work for 15 hours or more in each week during part time work? Do you have weekly payslip (>30 hours for biweekly pay slip). Is your work in Canada? You need foreign exp for FSW.

1. Work experience gained in Canada will not be considered foreign work experience and therefore will not be eligible to be considered under FSW.

2. Did you mean March 2016? If it is August 2014 to March 2015, then the period Jan - March 2015 is overlapping and your work experience during that period would be considered only up to 30 hours (irrespective of the fact that you have done part-time as well as full time, as it does not count up to 12 months). If you meant August 2015 to March 2016, then yes the combined work experience (January 2015 to March 2016) can be used for CEC provided full time is 30 hours per week and part-time is 15 hours per week.

I was rejected in my previous application under FSW, and I did not have any foreign work experience. Am I missing something here? Why was I invited under FSW in the previous application? ???

Sorry, yes I meant March 31, 2016.
This breakdown of part-time and full-time is for the same job (say, company A).
While I was working part time at this company A, I was actually employed full time for one year at another company B. (May 2014 to July 2015)

Then I quit working full time at this company B and switched my part-time job at company A to full time job (company A).

What is confusing for me is the part-time hours calculation.
Below is my part time hours on bi-weekly basis. I don't think I have the exact requirement of CEC part time calculation.. can anyone clarify if below hours and my current occupation (part time and full time) qualifies me for CEC? ??? Since August, 2015, I've been working full time for 40 hours a week. Thank you!!

There is no requirement for FSW candidates to have foreign work experience. It's only skilled work, irrespective of where the experience was gained. Canada is not explicitly excluded.

Hence all the people trying to be invited under CEC instead of FSW, because they qualify for both!

dear friend,

in my reference letter I haven't mentioned number of hours worked instead, I have mentioned full-time job. I am working in the organization for past 5 years. Will full time employed work or should I write the number of hours?

As per the requirement, the number of hours is required. Does your offer letter/appointment letter have the hours mentioned in it?

You cannot count 40 hours per week -- max 30 hrs/week is allowed (for both full-time and part-time).

So your total part time: 406.54 hours
Full time hours: 960 hours

Total: 1366.54 < 1560!

Not true.

FSW is not Foreign Skilled Worker, its Federal Skilled Worker. The year skilled work must be continuous and can be gained in the previous 10 years either in Canada or abroad. Thus why people with Canadian experience qualify for both CEC and FSW.

Can you please mention reference for why maximum 30 hours per week should be used for calculation?

I've been working part time for just two weeks less than two years. I was going to use 16 hours per week to compensate for that, but do you suggest that no matter how many hours i have really worked, I can only calculate based on max 15 hours per week?

For part-time work experience you can use any number of hours per week worked. Any number under 30 is perfectly fine.

Just to make sure, do you think with 2 weeks under 2 years of work with 16 hours per week (calculates 1632 hours), would I pass eligibility requirement?

The equivalent of a year of full-time work experience? Yes.

The equivalent of a year of full-time work experience? Yes.

Following on my previous question:

I have worked from 01, Sep, 2014 to 06, Aug, 2016 as a MSc graduate student research assistant in a Canadian institution. As far as I know this is considered a part time job. I just noticed in express entry eligibility tool it asks whether I have been working for equivalent of one year full time in the past three years, now since some of this work is not within past three years I won't be able to use the minimum 15 hr per week. Now my question is:

If I put any hr per week I want (less than 30) in the profile (e.g., 25 hr per week) and my supervisor verifies that with a recommendation letter, would the officer buy this?

One of my friends says that it would come across unreasonable if I put more than 20 hr per week for a part time job and the officer may doubt that. Do you think there is such a thing or the officer only checks with the Prof's recommendation letter?
