I don't know about India as I live in Dubai but as rule of thumb exchange houses offer better rates and you may negotiate with them while with banks it is more of a take it or leave it situation!

I guess your only option is DD, just make sure it is in Cad $ as you can encash it quickly when it is in Cad (within 3 days) but also make sure you have enough cash on hand for emergency purposes (for the first few days), Keep an eye on exchange rates and request the dd when the price is down...

First: your timelines are unlikely for MI3 but still possible i.e. it is possible that you still don't have a medical request but I feel that you should receive it soon and not in a few month like your consultant is telling you. Second and most important: you should be able to log to ecas even...

I think they are referring to security checks, but of course they will not spoon feed us the information nor will they share with us details of their process. BTW, this is a definit proof that they are working on several MIs simoultaneously!

In the case of LVO, they sent us the PPR seperately and in the letter they mention that we should not expect our PPs back in less than 6 weeks, and that we should not make any travel plans within that time frame (they returned them in 4 weeks). LVO process makes sense to me, passports are vital...

Hey RKC, Don't worry dear, don't forget that they have your passports and they cannot keep them for more than 2 months (how long did they say in the PP request letter?) so you are bound to get a reply in 6-8 weeks! I know it is hard but have patience dear and get busy preparing for the Big mOve!

It is allowed but not advisable for security reasons. You risk loosing it, or some officer at the airport (local airport) ask you too many questions if he finds out about it... You won't have a problem at the POE but it is better to transfer the money in some other approved form! One more...

I remember reading something about this in the COPR documents, as I recall they said that some "old type" (maybe the one you have) passports that are still in circulation in some countries are not valid for visa stamping. I will follow up on my reply with a confirmation tonight (at work right...
