    Spousal sponsorship

You mean, taking cash OUT of the applicant's home country (in this case, India)? I did some google research...this article ( https://wise.com/gb/blog/taking-cash-in-or-out-of-india ) says (note the bit I've bolded) : "It’s not permitted to take Indian rupees (INR) out of the country, unless...

Anything over $10k needs to be declared. Not sure whether they impose tax if you bring in an amount over that threshold. Best ask an accountant or finance specialist who knows.

February 2024 - Outland Spousal Sponsorship

Further update following P1 and P2 emails from them last week: - received ECOPR today, physical copy of my PR card being sent in the post. Seems my journey is done - just over 21 months it took (I was an outland applicant applying for Quebec residency), good luck to everyone. :)

What are you doing to celebrate getting PR after this long wait?

I had a bottle of red wine, pizza and binge-watched some Canadian TV shows after I got COPR. :)

Expected processing time for background security checks?

Received P1 last Friday and P2 today. With luck I might have my PR card before Christmas or the new year. The end of a long 21 month road, although I know some people are still waiting to hear about their applications.

The timeline of 2023 Spouse sponsorship application from Quebec

Congrats. I'm similar to you (although I'm outland application). Applied in the same month as you too (Feb 2024), received COPR yesterday and P1. Background check and eligibility finally completed a day or so before that. Seems they have some efficient people work at IRCC at the moment. Oh...

CSQ spouse sponsorship inland timeline 2024

Just wanted to contribute to the thread.. I'm an outland application (applied February 2024) and also received COPR yesterday, and have just responded to the P1 email. Which is great news. I get the impression there has been some activity with IRCC processing these Quebec applications recently...

Thank you! I can't remember the exact dates, but it's something like this: I am the principal applicant (UK), sponsor is Canadian (residing in Quebec). It was an outland application. First applied: February 2024 AOR: About 7 weeks later Sponsor approval: April 2024 Biometrics completed: April...

Did they say why they refused a visitor visa? Which country are you from if you don't mind me asking?

    Spousal sponsorship timeline

Yeah I wasn't sure if they would now regard me as "inland". Originally I was an outland application, but I've been living here for a year so they seem to have taken that into consideration in my case. I was a bit confused about whether I would have to redo the medical. Sit tight, I am sure it...

Expected processing time for background security checks?

Because it said so on the portal. :) And thanks. There's probably still a long time to wait to finally receive PR because I applied to reside in Quebec, but at least all the boxes have been ticked now.

Expected processing time for background security checks?

Just an update on my own thread. lol. My background check (and elibility) were both finally completed this weekend (I also received the pre-arrival services letter on Friday by email). So at least everything is checked as complete on the online portal for me. Big relief. (Date of my original...

    Spousal sponsorship timeline

Yeah, I guess because my background check and Eligibility were showing as "completed" on my file, it probably means the background check was the last hurdle before they considered me elligible. Anyway, it's a relief. I'm sure you will get yours eventually. I applied a few months before you...

Your criminality background check is probably accepted/ok then, it's just the security check that is probably waiting to be done. This can take a while depending on your country I guess. This is the impression I got when I phoned IRCC to enquire about a few things.

Did you provide police clearance certificates (from your country) when you first applied?

    Spousal sponsorship timeline

I don't think they did my background check faster because I was in Canada. Actually the background check consists of two separate areas: criminality check and security check. The first is done when you first apply because you have to provide valid police clearance certificates, but it seems they...

Oh yeah sorry I forgot you are Outland. I'm also an outland application but I've been in Canada for a while on a spousal open work permit, so it's easy for me to just phone them if I need to. They CAN access your file (whether it's inland or outland). I'm not sure why you say they can't. Perhaps...
