    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

There are some in 'Sauga listed for this last week, they only seem to publish a week at a time. But at any rate: neither Toronto-area location seems to do Thursdays, so it's most likely virtual.

Name Split in Passport, COPR and PR Card

Did you have documents from others, such as banks, etc., as I mentioned? Did you have a document, as I wrote, that showed the basis upon which your home country issued the passport under a different name? I.e. is there ANY type of document that shows you changed your name? I'm not sure I...

    December 2024 - Citizenship Applications

I believe I've seen some get this before the ceremony, some after. So I don't think that critical. But not certain. I'd look at the invitation you've received already and check carefully: did it have any text that says you should have received the separate e-certificate email already?

    January 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I don't have a solid answer except to say that I believe numbers-wise, virtual are more frequent. If you want to see/guess, you can check the date of ceremony against the publicly-posted schedules: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/CeremonyCeremonie/en/Home They're only posted for about a week at a...

    Basic Stuff

Okay. Still not clear to me - were you born to a Canadian citizen? Or you are attempting to naturalize? If the former, it sounds to me like you may be looking at/using the wrong forms - you should not be applying for a grant of citizenship, but a proof of citizenship. (Just the terminology /...

    Basic Stuff

You haven't given enough information for anyone to make sense of your question. Were you born a citizen or naturalizing? Where were you born? What's your claim to citizenship?

I think this is a really unclear thing, was confused about it myself. Glad it helped.

    December 2024 - Citizenship Applications

Are you still looking at the application page where you submitted the app? I don't think that ever updates. You need to create an account and follow here: https://tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/register

No updates since Feb 13 - Outland

There's no indication anything has gone wrong. The period after submitting bio and medical and the next step happening is the longest and quietest. You can compare to tracker but this is normal processing.

Citizenship oath ceremony - I only have a PR card

Was the PR card the only doc they required? Helpful for others to know.

Passing down citizenship to minor who was born abroad

I think the problem is that you are filling out forms for a grant of citizenship, whereas - if the child is eligible - you need to apply for a proof of citizenship (the difference being that if eligible, the child is already a citizen and just needs to be able to show it). So two questions...

    March 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I spoke too soon, of course: later in same day got a request for scans of all pages of travel documents. Tedious but manageable. Unlike what's written above, it just says request letter. The wrinkles are: -Their intended limits of 5mb for colour(!) scans of passports with ~50 pages total is...

If you mean the portal to submit, you're correct, they do not update it after submission. If you're looking for more things to worry about for no reason, by all means.

If you check the form carefully, it also says that if the time in last four years is before the date one became a PR, it doesn't count. So yes - you're correct because less than 183 days, but also the other exclusion. Therefore: correct answer is no.

    April 2025 - Citizenship Applications

I think they go by whatever your PR card has unless you have updated since. My opinion only: it'll be quicker to get citizenship if you leave it as is. When you get the citizenship certificate, go and apply for passport and ask for new name (with marriage certificate and some photo ID like...
