December 2020- Citizenship Applicants

Hello Team,

My indian passport expires june 2022. My Canadian citizenship application is in progress, and only Background check shows "completed",
in the meantime,
If I renew my passport do I need to advise CIC and what do I need to consider at this point.

Any input is appreciated.

hi, my passport was set to expire on January 2022 but because I needed to travel outside Canada, I have applied for renewal of my passport from my country's embassy in Toronto in June 2021. I have submitted my new passport when I was requested a copy of my passport pages back in September 2021.

Wow, I still wonder what makes the difference between cases. Some submitted at same or after and done quicker..

For folks who have not left Canada after the permanent resident visa was issued, this may fast-track their application as it is faster to confirm their physical presence in Canada.

I don't think that's entirely true as I didn't leave Canada after becoming PR prior to submitting my application, and yet mine hasn't even been shown a single check as complete.

I agree, I don't think travelling out will affect this much, it may be a factor but not in a substantial way

I sent it early December 2020 and was given AOR December 23rd, 2020. After that nothing is showing except "in progress" for everything.

This is definitely not true. I can confirm that personally. I haven’t left Canada and I’m yet to receive test invite. Applied since June 2020.

I have a situation. My wife's back ground checks are all complete including test few months ago (End of July 2021) but the application status showed "In Progress". She currently waiting for her Oath ceremony. She is a December 2020 Montreal applicant. Now, I am moving to states for my job and taking her on visitor visa. Do I need to change her address in the application or let it be like that?

Can she do Oath ceremony while she was in States or does she have to fly back here, finish all Oath formalities, wait for certificate, apply for Passport etc?

Any guidance would be highly appreciated.

I wouldn't mess anything with IRCC. When invited for oath let her come in and finish the process. Changing address may put the file and process on hold until she returns back to Canada. I'm not saying it would happen, but there is a chance it can!

Language Skills - in progress
Physical Presence - in progress

Citizenship Ceremony - not started

Not sure how this compares to anyone else or whether it looks promising or not.

Here is the spreadsheet for Dec 2020. It seems 45% of applicants who reported their progress are in the same situation as yours.

Exactly the same BG was done Apr/23rd and then silence is the word

Tracker update.
Got an update today. All my tracker categories now is COMPLETED except Citizenship ceremony " Not started "
They requested my passport pages on August 29th and I sent them and I just got the update now.. on November 2nd.
Now just waiting for my ceremony.
