Greetings!

If you are interested in hearing the truth, and still ready to proceed despite the challenges, you are welcome here. If you want to be pampered, please go elsewhere.

I am here offer advise to anyone who is Nigerian and needs assistance in navigating the dangerous waters of Canadian study permit application. Identify what the problem might be and how to possibly over come them.

It would be better to come here before you apply, rather than after you have applied, it might be too late to assist you then. Also, never rush to put in an application, if you are rejected once, your chances of being rejected a second time increases by about 60-70%.

Looking forward to assisting anyone with question here.

You are welcome.

Cheers

Hello Beejay-gold,

Thanks for visiting this thread.

Unfortunately, anything that has to do with leaving Nigeria to another country whether for studies or permanent immigration is expensive. It would be naive to think it would be cheap or affordable, if it were most people on this forum would have left Nigeria long time ago. So I would advice you reconsider your position if you feel the financial burden of proceeding with such a venture as this might be beyond the means of your family. I know what it means to have a dream and not be able to reach it due to financial challenges, that is the unfortunate world we live in today.

Apart from money matters, your profile (at face value) is not good. You have a virgin passport, never traveled before, we don't know your age or qualification, there is very little to work with. You also do not sound like you have done any background research by yourself to see what opportunities may be available to you.

In my honest opinion, you need to take a moment, do a bit more research and then you can come back. Unfortunately, you will not be spoon-fed here, you may DM me to discuss this in detail.

All the best

Cheers

Hello Nuel182,

I am sorry I may not be able to assist you and I will tell you why.

Nigeria unfortunately, has a very poor reputation with all these countries. The Canadian Study Permit approval rates was less than 15% in May 2017. That means if 1,000 people applied for study permit from Nigeria only 140 will get approved. Now, this is April 2019, it is possible it may have come down to less than 10%. The reason is because our people are usually not straight forward, and whether it intentional or not, the VOs do not understand that, and will not hesitate to reject any application that is not straight forward. How can you say you are working and you cannot demonstrate proof of such work? How can you say the payment is being made to another account other than yours when you are the one claiming to do the work? These are the kinds of questions that will come to the VOs mind.

Rule of Thumb for applications: when you make a claim on your application, you must back it up with proof. For example, I have traveled to Dubai and USA before, then you put copies of the visas in your application, and when the embassy goes to do their own verification they should find it as such. I don't know if you will be able to get your visa this time around as it appears you may have already made some mistakes in the first application and they could use those same mistakes against you in the new application.

Please, as I stated before, try to address the matters they raised in the refusal letter as best you can or don't bother re-applying.

All the best.

Hello Omofar,

Thank you for all you do. May the Lotd reward you mightily, Amen.

Please, I want to be sure if I need IELTS result in my Visa Application even when i got a waiver from the school I applied to. I actually didn’t write the test.

Will I be good to go or I need to write the test as I’m expecting my LoA any moment from now?

Also if it won’t be a bother, can you reach me privately via email at monifamodu@gmail.com ?

Many thanks.

Hello Hardeholar1,

Thank you for visiting this thread. I also thank you for your compliments, what makes the world a better place is if we are able to help one another in any little way possible. I will try to review your profile and make a personal critical assessment of your situation.

Background information

At Face value your profile looks moderately okay. You did not specify your age, because demography is a very huge part of the application process.

1. Purpose of Visit/Application:- You aced this aspect of your application. Your qualification and work experience in the field, as well as a LOA from a DLI for admission into the same field is very progressive. The VO would be happy with this! I would give you and A+ in this area.

And I have paid the tuition fee for the first semester
My mom is my sponsor with a closing balance of 71 000 cad, I also submitted my land documents as well as my sponsor land documents
I also submitted an affidavit of support as well as sponsorship from my sponsor My sponsor have just two dependent ( my dad and my junior brother) My application is one month old now and I haven't gotten any reply Do you think this is a good profile?
And what are my chances of an approval
2. Ability to Fund Item (1): As per this area, I don't have the full information. You have paid your fees for at least a semester, that is very good, however did you request an official receipt from the DLI and did you include it in your application? $71,000CAD is very impressive, however the mistake people make is that when you show such funds, and due to international laws on money laundering, you need to be able to demonstrate in a manner that is verifiable the source of the income, were you able to do this? In a few posts back, I advised that if you do make a claim to the embassy you must be able to back it up in a manner that it can be easily verified. Based on the information you provided I would score you a C in this area.

Before now i have work experience as an assistant laboratory scientist
I submitted reference letter from my current work place as well as three month salary from my workplace as well as employment letter
I also submitted my land documents as well as my sponsor land documents
3. Intention to Return to Home Country: This area is the most important part of your application, and based on the info you have provided, I am not sure you have convinced the VO of this. Again your age is important here, you graduate from the University about 7 years ago, why not apply earlier. The fact that you have been working all this while in the same field to gain experience will answer this query. Also you did not state whether or not you have any international travel history, this is very important as the VO can use this to assess how you may behave when it comes to getting your study permit. Besides your Dad, Mum, & Brother, are you married, any kids, what exactly would make you want to return to Nigeria on completion of your studies, this is where your LOE (Letter of Explanation) should be very detailed about your strategy to return and re-integrate back into the labour force of Nigeria. Did you company say you would be coming back upon completion of your studies? What is your salary as a Laboratory Technician, is the return on investment worth it when you get back to Nigeria? Have you ever been denied visa to other countries before in the past etc. Based on the information you have provided I would score you a D in this area.

I submitted my application first week of March 2019
I also submitted my land documents as well as my sponsor land documents. I submitted all my credentials. And filled all applicable Cic forms
I also submitted an affidavit of support as well as sponsorship from my sponsor. My sponsor have just two dependant( my dad and my junior brother). My application is one month old now and I haven't gotten any reply

Finally, I believe this is not a peak period for the embassy, and that is why the application I submitted at the end of February came out early, an average of 2-months by the time the visa gets stamped. But it is different for everyone, it depends on the VO, they do a lot of verification and they might still be at it, so hold on.

Land documents do not really mean much in my own estimation, liquidity is much more important than those. The VO knows that in the struggling economy of Nigeria, it will be difficult to dispose of land quickly should you have need of cash under short notice. I do not recall submitting people's credentials (I always apply online) except you apply through VFS, so I don't think it matters. The VO knows that if you did not have the requisite qualifications you would not have been able to obtain the LOA in the first place, I feel it is redundant. Also another redundant document is affidavit of financial support, it means nothing really. A simple letter, properly written of financial support should do the same thing. Have you done your medicals already, did you include police clearance certificates. Hopefully you have filled out your forms very well with no errors.

Hmmm.. My assessment based on face value of our post, I would score you C in terms of getting your study permit. That is you are in 50-50 chance of getting it. This is not really good, since approval rates in Nigeria is less than 15%, so you need to be at least 85% in contention.

Finally, as I always say, I have applied for people in the past, whom I did not believe would get their permits, but they did! God's favour and mercy was upon it. I have also applied for people in the past whom I was 100% sure that they would get their permit and they DID NOT!

Hold onto God, keep praying and hope for the best.

Please let us know how it goes.

All the best.

Cheers.

Greetings Fellow Dreamers!

I hope well, May Our Lord Jesus Christ bring all your dreams of Canada to fruition in 2019. Amen.

Tip for The Month of April.

Luke 14:28-30:
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

COUNTING THE COST!

The passage above is very self explanatory. Like every project one wishes to venture into, one must count the costs. The costs could vary for different projects, from emotional, to psychological, to physical and many cases financial.

Unfortunately, all of these costs are associated with immigrating out of Nigeria, be it through International Student route, Economic migration route (EE), or even Tourism.

You need to be able to to critically assess your situation before venturing into either of the aforementioned projects. Can I really afford to pursue this venture? If not, how can I get the required funding?

Think, Plan, Pray and Prepare and God will surely make a way for you!

I wish you the very best for your Canadian dreams in the month of April 2019.

Cheers.

Omofar.

Yes I requested for my receipt and I attached it with my application
I also supported my sponsor closing balance with her company document as well as 3 years tax return to proof the source is legitimate

In my Sop i made just clear that i have an existing job which am coming back to resume after study, I am 27 years, in my SOP i made it clear why am reaching out for this qualification at this point in time and not earlier, i dont any travel history, I am currently single ,my salary was btw 120000 to 150000
I have not been denied Visa to any country infact this my first application internationally

Hey,

Which is the best way to apply for study permit,
Online, At the VAC or by mail?

Also, I’m having troubles paying for the study permit online, it’s declining my card, I’ve tried all acceptable card, but it’s still declining. What could be the problem ?
