Settling & Working in Canada

Afternoon everyone, i have a question. We want to settle in canada and we're big data and instrumentation engineers. Do we need to have the approval of the commission before applying to a job offer and if so how long does it take to get that? At the same time can we still move on with the immigration processus ? we're both cameroonians by the way. and our immigration assessment score is around 472.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the commissions".

You can apply for jobs directly through job web sites. However to qualify for a work permit or to gain job offer points to help you to apply for PR, your employer in Canada needs to obtain an approved LMIA. The LMIA process is long and expensive and generally takes 4-6 months to complete. Most employers are not willing to go through the process.

If you have 472 points without a job offer, then I would recommend you apply for Express Entry as soon as you can. Yes - you can do this in parallel with the work permit.

Yes - you'll need to research what it takes to be officially certified as an engineer in Canada.

That's true for jobs not for immigration.
