Thanks for the replies guys. I'll wait for the ITA and then apply for the PCC for both myself and my wife and see how it goes.

All the best. I am in Bangalore too. if your score is near the threshold and you are expecting ITA soon, I suggest you start collecting experience letters and get PCC from abroad if applicable. Experience letters are generally not issued by IT companies with roles and responsibilities so it might take you some time and effort to get the right set of documents.

Suggesting after seeing your NOC - 2171.

Hello,

Can anyone of you please clarify my question.
Should I apply for PCC only if I had stayed outside India above 6 months from the age of 18?

Thanks,
Arian

You need a PCC from every country you've stayed in for more than 6 months from the age of 18.

Thanks Cyronn. So even being a citizen of India, I should apply for a PCC? Is my understanding correct?

Yup. If you've never lived outside of India for more than 6 months then you need only an Indian PCC.

If you are not from Delhi or Punjab then PCC from Passport Seva may not work as CIC wants that from local police station.

I doubt it. There seem to be several people who've posted in this forum about submitting PCCs they've received from a PSK. Haven't come across any case of a PCC being rejected by CIC on these grounds. Can someone please confirm?

Hi guys, just wanted to give an update on the PCC process for me and my wife from Sai Arcade, Bangalore. We got our PCCs and the process followed was quite similar to what others had posted earlier, except for one hitch in my PCC. The officials at the PSK gave me mine only after another police verification.

Background to this is that my first passport was issued in Delhi around 15 years ago after a police verification. It had obviously expired. My second (and current passport) was issued in Chennai around 5 years ago and this one didn't go through a police verification. I don't recall how that happened, but I think we had applied for the passport renewal in tatkal which is why we didn't have another police verification in Chennai.
Now, I didn't remember any of this when my wife and I went to PSK. Everything went smoothly till the last counter, where PCCs are granted. My wife went before me and her PCC was issued, no problems. When I went, the lady said she can't issue it without another police verification. She showed me her computer screen where the police verification section in my records said no data available! So there I was trying to get a PCC from Bangalore for Passport issued 5 years back from Chennai with the last police verification done 15 years ago from Delhi!

Anyway I was told that they would send the file to local police station on the same day and I can come back once the verification is done and collect the PCC. Not wanting to wait for police to do their job at their pace, I went to my local police station next day itself. Had to wait for 2 hours, give another set of all documents and haggle with the police constable to do the verification asap. Anyway, long story short it was done and within 4-5 days I got an sms to go and collect the PCC from Sai Arcade. So in all it took one extra trip to the PSK, one extra week of waiting, a trip to the police station but finally managed to get my PCC as well.

The funny thing here is that we were more worried about my wife's PCC since she had moved from Mumbai to Bangalore only 6 months ago. I was worried that PSK folks might say she has to get it from Mumbai. But since she had gotten her first passport only abouth 8-9 months back with a police verification done in Mumbai properly hers went through without a hitch. All in all, the PSK folks are helpful. If you follow the process and take all documents properly you won't face any troubles.

Thought I would share this for the benefit of others in the same boat. Cheers and all the best!

Im in the same boat. I was asked to wait for 4-5 days and I was told about the SMS. My case is that Im new to blore and provided the current address proof on my company letter head. In Addition, my passport was issued in Canada by Indian Consulate as I lost it there.

I'll wait for another 3-4 days for SMS. Lemme see what happens

No u are wrong. They never say PSk PCC will not work. They in fact tell you if you dont have pSK office you can have PCC from local police station. That does not mean you cant have from PSK.

And what about if u give the police certificate from commissioner office and not from PSK. I am talking about ahmedabad, Gujarat.
