Found another good tracker with many applicants. From this tracker it seems that recently people are getting their PR within 7-8 months ;D

Congratulations. I heard this many times that people submit there passports for VISA, what does this mean? Is the PR stamped on the passport or it is some sort of indication that your PR application is completed and now you can land on Canadian soil?

Hello,

After opening the file, how long does it take for them to to ask for the police certificates and medical exam?

Thanks
I need to prepare the police certificates in advance, so I need to need when they will ask them (roughly speaking) after opening the file.

Thanks

Considering the stats, AOR is given almost 4 months after the submission of file. Then "on average", medical request comes 10-15 days after. Around 65% of applicants get Medical request between 1 to 5 days after getting AOR.

Hope this helps.

When Permanent Residence processing is nearly completed, the applicant is required to submit the passport for a visa which is essentially the Permanent Residence Visa. I am not sure about its validity. Its either 40 days, 2 months or 1 year. Applicants which applied for PR outside Canada then use this visa to come to Canada. On the airport at Canadian port of entry , their final processing is done, and they are (among other things) given Landing papers which are very important. Then once in Canada, they apply for the actual PR plastic card.

If the applicant was already inside Canada, then there are two ways to do the final step.

1. Contacting the Call Center to request an appointment at a local CIC to finalize processing and getting Landing papers and also applying for the actual plastic PR card.

2. Flagpoling at any Canadian/US border. It means applicants just cross Canadian border and go to US soil and then come back to the Canadian port of entry. For flagpoling, one doesn't need a US visa since temporary residents of Canada with valid work/study permits are exempted to have US visa if they only visit US and come back to Canada. (under Regulation 190 (3)(f)(i) and (ii))

Thanks. But what about the police certificates? I didn't submit them with the application because their validity, I am afraid, is less than the processing time of the application!!

Thanks. So, we can get the landing papers without leaving Canada? But all people who got their PR told me that they crossed the border, why? Is it easier, or the first option is something new?

What do you mean by we don't need US VISA if we have a valid study/work permit, and we just want to visit US and come back to Canada? I once had a conference in Washington, and applied for a VISA although I had at the time a valid study permit, and a proof that I am studying in Canada. The result was that they were very slow that it took more than two months, and they called my passport after the conference was finished!!!!

Thanks again

In the first option you call and get an appointment. Usually the appointment time is given very late and so people tend to just go to the border and get it done.

Regarding US visa, I gave you the wrong information. My apologies. Please see below for the correct information:

Applicants along with their dependents(who are also landing) should drive to the border and tell the border security that they are there for a "flagpole". All the members should possess valid passports(stamped with PR immigration visa) and the documents that confirm their approval for Permanent Residenceship

US Border security officer will either issue a "rejection of entry" slip at the border or will request you to visit the Border Security office to get one

After the issuance of the "rejection of entry", border security officials will escort the incumbents to the Canadian border or re-entry gates to Canada

Primary applicant along with his co-applicants/dependents can enter back to into Canada after getting their landing papers in the Canadian border security/customs/immigration office in the border. The landing formalities will be done here.

-- Regarding no visa. What I really wanted to say was that if you have an expired Canadian visa and a valid US visa, then you can still go to US and come back to Canada as long as you have a valid work/study permit.
