Forgot to mention that I sent a case specific inquiry yesterday. Maybe they actually went looking for the passport. So relieved!
The good news for everyone is that Buffalo is still sending out passports.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe it! I've had the Canada Post site up all day and hitting the track button millions of times. FINALLY I see this:

2012/06/05 13:56 FORT ERIE Item accepted at the Post Office

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(See, they didn't send it May 18th. Sheesh!)
Congratulations!!! You must be very excited.

(I wonder how often they drop mail off at Fort Erie, ON)

I can't help but wonder if they are just telling us things to keep us off their backs. Our MP called CIC last week to find out where my husband's passport was and they said that they sent it out May 18th. First of all, the tracking number is inactive. Secondly, even if they sent it via regular post, it would have been here by now.
Hi Kitchloo.. my MP office has spoken to CIC several times on my behallf in the past month.. last week especially as we are still waitng for his COPR to be sent to him. 2 days in a row she spoke to 2 different people and got 2 different answers..its ridiculous. We are still waitng with no word and a landing date of June 13th.. ???

Hi,

I do have gold to declare while I land in Canada. But I don't know the value of that gold. I dont have all gold with me now in USA. Some of it is in India, but I do have photographs for that. Do I have to declare the value of gold? or only the pictures of gold will work?
Yes, declare the value of the gold. And attach the photos.

Jenny parsely said:
One more thing, do I have to declare the current value of all the electronics? or should it be the purchase value on the B4 form?
Current value of all items

Jenny parsely said:
Do I have to list all the electronics on B4 form including, kitchen appliances, etc? Should it be declared under variour categories such as kitchen appliences, entertainment etc.
All electronics you are planning to import to Canada should be listed (with brand, model, and serial number). You don't need to categorize it, but having some sort of order will make it easier for you to find the items when you import them so that CBSA can cross them off

Jenny parsely said:
While filling B4 form should all the items be categorized such as Kitchen and within that pots, pans etc. or it should be written as only kitchen utensils and its value?
For things like pots and pans and clothes you can group them together and declare a total value: xx boxes of kitchen utensils ($xxx)

Please advise
Good luck!

By the way, this post may help you also :)

Thank you. Yes we're excited, but it's not over yet. We had to pay off my husband's car and now we're waiting for the title. Then we have to export/import the car. I can't wait till all of this is behind us. I never would have imagined that this would take over a year.

I guess since they will all be unemployed soon they don't care what they say to people. Our MP was told that the passport was sent out on May 18th, but it was only sent today. They are lying to us.

Why is your landing date June 13th? I'm sure they've extended your medicals. They extended my husband's when they took waaaay too long to process our application. We didn't even have to ask.

Congrats about the good news!

Keep us up to date about the on-the-ground process of importing your husband's car. I'm likely going to have to land (in my car) before my car is fully paid-off, return and finish working, and then move toward the end of the summer.

In Lasiar's case, the PPR had the June 13th date. So unless they've extended the medical after the PPR Lasiar's timing is getting cut pretty close.

Good luck, Lasiar. Perhaps send them an e-mail specifically on the date (I know you had mentioned restrictions with getting time off to do a quick landing).

Thanks! I'll let you know how it goes. My husband's lien holder made him pay off the car, so I had to put it on my credit line. Ugh. Thankfully there wasn't much left to pay.

Will your car be fully paid off before you move? If not, you'll need to try to negotiate to get the lien-holder to let you export the car so plan for that in early on (the other steps are in my post on the process linked to above)
Should be, but if it's not, I'm just going to sell it before I cross into Canada because I don't want to deal with the headache. I'm putting it on my B4 regardless.

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone has info on what is up with Buffalo. I haven't been around much lately, but I heard it was closing down. Has it already closed? It seems from reading a few posts here that Buffalo is still open.

The reason I ask is that I have a friend who is still in process. Long story short she's been getting the run around for nearly two years (she applied July 2010). Her MP called today to say that she and her children had been approved, but that Buffalo was now closed and her file transferred to LA. The MP said it would take "a while" to process her visa that that she should be prepared to wait until the end of the year for it. He also said that if it wasn't processed by then, she would have to undergo a third medical! Could that be?? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

BTW, I met my guy online as well back in 2004; online dating, not gaming. We used to get serious grief crossing the border together when officers asked how we knew each other.

A few things have changed recently. Buffalo officially has closed, but it looks like they are still tying up some loose ends. My understanding is that all files are being transferred to either Ottawa or one of the regional offices. From my experience, it is really unclear where files are currently.

The other major change is that a medical can now be extended if it was done less than 15-months ago. This is decided on a case-by-case basis. It seems that a lot of Canadian officials aren't aware of the new ability to extend a medical exam expiration date, so her MP may be speaking from old information.
