Just 1.5 years for visitor? I have been waiting since more than 3 years still in backgrounds check.
Hello, anybody got reply or approval? Im on same situation since 2022 for my father visitor visa. Kindly post me or let me know anything i can do clear or get update about background check
You may want to consider mandamus if no movement in your file for multiple years. This is really a visitor issue not a family sponsorship issue.

hey please anybody ,who is going through this , please help me , as my father applied for express entry in 2022, and ircc took landing fees, and no update since then ,only thing they update is background checking, I am worrying about my family and my career , as I am in my early 20s and wasting my time ,and so I have wasted 4 yes just in waiting that someday good news will come, and losing on opportunities too, as anxiety ,depression is all over me now, I was not expecting that but this is true, please help, as anyone have applied for mandamus or writ ?and how is the process , should I apply for that? please genuine reply

My father worked for the government and retired last year. I applied for his visitor visa in 2020, just before COVID, but the application got stuck in background check until 2023. I assumed the delay was due to the COVID backlog, so I withdrew it.
We applied again in 2024, and the same thing happened, the application was stuck in background check until this past May, when the file was closed abruptly. My father applied through an agent, and since I was here in Canada, I wasn't able to look into the application or ask questions directly.
Just a month ago, I applied for my father's super visa, and I happened to come across this thread. After reading all the comments above, my hopes are fading again.
I'm a Canadian citizen and an only child, and my parents are getting older with no one there to take care of them. I'm genuinely worried about this whole situation.
Could someone please guide me on what a mandamus is and what the process involves?

Yes, we did. starting from demand letter to now, almost one year passed and still waiting for leave
