Lost my PR card, but it was found

Hello there,

I lost my PR card in June and I reported about it through the IRCC web form, but my PR card was found today. I do not apply to replace new card yet, but should I do it?
I would appreciate if someone can help me.

If you reported it as lost or stolen, it's probably been cancelled. You should check and if it has, you can order a new one.

I am dealing with the same situation, reported my PR lost but just found it a couple of days later. I was wondering what happened in your case, did you end up getting a new one or your old one still worked. . thanks

Hi Nader, I am in the same boat. I lost my wallet with my PR card yesterday (Dec 20, 2020), submitted the web form. I found it today, coz someone found my wallet and returned it to a bank branch. I already submitted a web form today using the "withdraw application" option (even though, technically, I hadn't started the application, and it was only a report). What happened in your case? did it all work out okay? what is the best way to ask them to disregard the first loss-report filing? Please do let me know. Thanks in advance!

What usually happens in this situation? I need information from others who experienced the same thing. I filed a police report and submitted a PR card replacement application because I believed my PR card was lost. After submitting the application, my husband found my PR card. I have now submitted a web form requesting the withdrawal of my application. What happened next for you?

You should not have asked to withdraw the application. The previous card was probably cancelled and is no longer valid, and now you've withdrawn your application.

You can try calling IRCC but most likely you'll have to apply again.

In the meantime, I am considering travelling outside Canada and applying for a PRTD to return if my replacement card is not issued in time.

I became a PR less than five years ago. I currently have only an 11-day margin over the residency obligation. I have approximately 436 days remaining in my first five-year period and need to spend about 425 of those days in Canada to meet the 730-day requirement.

Given this situation, can I travel outside Canada and return using a PRTD while still being able to meet my residency obligation by the end of my first five years?

Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

That's one option. People have been successful applying for a PRTD while still in Canada.

How long do you plan to be gone? Remember that the day you leave Canada still counts as a full day in Canada for meeting the R.O. for PR Card renewal.
Also, only the PR Card expires; not the PR status.

If you can return via the U.S. (meaning you travel to the U.S. and then enter Canada in a private vehicle, or on foot) you will not need a PRTD. As long as the CBSA officer can `see' that you are a PR you will be allowed to enter Canada.

@Ponga Thank you for your reply. I am planning to travel for about 10 days only because i cannot go further than that.
Have some family commitments there.
Could you please elaborate how applying PRTD from Canada works? Does the IRCC not verify the Passport stamps or anything to confirm i am indeed outside and applying from therefore? Is there a way or a instance that you know of one can safely get PRTD from within Canada? Thanks again for your time.

If you will still be compliant with your current travel abroad yes you should be able to get a PRTD.

@canuck78 just by 11 Days. Moreover when i apply for PRTD, i would be waiting in those 11 Days and if the PRTD doesnt get issued within that time, i will cross the number of available days to meet RO.

Is there a way i can get PRTD before i travel outside? that way i will not get into dicey situation? Thanks for your time in replying.
