Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2023 Timeline

Uhmmmm. I got a message from ICAC for file review since August 2024 and no updates yet.

When did you apply for asylum? Yeah I’ve heard that it can take anywhere from 6-12 months after the letter before you receive a decision, and that’s if they don’t switch to regular hearing.

It just sucks because I made my claim in January 2023 so my processing time would end up being 4 years if not more.

Could more people who also claimed asylum in 2023 please share their hearing dates for us to get a general idea on how the cases are moving

unfortunately, ur case will take longer. background check is crucial first step. they just completed background checks on those who claim in 2025 at Jan/Feb 2026.

But I applied July 2024, Vancouver. Shoudnt it be done by now?

Yes it should be. can u follow up with them? but if u live in different countries for many years, ur security check will take longer.

I just lived 6 month in Turkiye, my lawyer is not following up , She says we have to wait ang there is nothing we can do except waiting, how do you suggest to follow up?
