I understand how stressful this wait must be, especially after more than 20 weeks and even after your MP intervened. When an MP contacts IRCC, the visa officer usually reviews the file and may send a note to the processing centre, but unfortunately it does not guarantee immediate action. The message your MP received — that the officer sent a note regarding your passport request — is generally a positive sign, meaning your file has likely been looked at and may be in the final stages. However, it can still take a few weeks for the processing centre to issue the actual PPR email, depending on workload, background checks, or internal queue delays.
Since it has already been two weeks after the MP’s intervention, you can politely follow up with the MP’s office again and ask if they can request an updated status. At the same time, you may also submit a webform to IRCC asking for clarification on the status of your passport request, mentioning that your MP previously contacted them and that you were informed a note was sent to the processing centre. Keep the message short and respectful.
At this stage, delays of a few weeks after MP inquiry are unfortunately common, but the information you received is not negative — it usually means your application is moving toward finalization.
