Hi siroccoon, Nothing is hard and easy.

Actually, CELPIP doesn't have enough materials for preparation. In fact, specially in speaking modules they have some questions where we need to listen carefully otherwise you can't give proper answer. As a result, It will affect on scores end of the day.

Whatever they mentioned online materials and sample test it is very easy whereas in actual exam it has been realized very difficulty in speaking modules specially.

It is very difficult to achieve 4L in each category. Because at least in IELTS we have enough materials through online so t we can achieve desired band ( Minimum 6 Band ).

Before taking CELPIP exam, kindly practice speaking modules it is very difficult compare to IELTS.
This doesn't hold true any more. CELPIP has numerous free webinars that you can sign up for in order to achieve the desired score. Also, their YouTube channel hosts a live session every second Tuesday with tips and suggestions on how to practice and score the required.

I want to ask recent exam takers of CELPIP. is it still unfair in providing the marks ?
I am finding IELTS exam a lot more difficult. Even in preparation I am getting .
I will really really really need 8777 for ielts, which is almost impossible for me. I have already Given it 3 times, all time it was 6.5 score. I am going to a lot of depression due to ielts. IELTS clearly see us as cash-cows. they never give more than 6 bands in writing. I used to get 8 in listening but due to depression and cognitive decline or ADHD or an increase in listening it is getting a lot more hard to get more than 7 now. f#cking british accent !!! they don't even offer in american accent, intentionally try to increase complexity the word they want to say. I f#cking hate it. I really really really need your help, Please !!!
Should I go for PTE, if the both are unfair ? I really need your recommendation.

Don't go for PTE as the margin to score CLB is 89/90 for writing. Meanin, you're allowed to make only 1 mistake. CELPIP has become better in recent times. Both my wife and I scored CLB 10 and CLB 9 in the first try back in 2023/2024! All the best!

Hi bro, Thank you so much for your motivation. But, Could you please also share what resources did you used to gain this score ? I really need to give the exam as soon as possible.

Please don't get me wrong. I don't want to sound arrogant but I never really used anything. Was comfortable in English since I was a kid. My friends, however, went on to Youtube to get some practice tutorials!

I have given CELPIP exam. Here is my experience,

Listening is good compare to IELTS but some certain points.

Speaking is not good as IELTS and it is very difficult to achieve desired band. IELTS is good compare to CELPIP.
Example, There are some questions ( 13 to 15) where we need to listen and speak. So it’s all about listening kind of things rather than speaking. It is very difficult to speak within 90 seconds for all questions because same times other guys are speaking.

Reading and writing both are good no issue.

Overall it is difficult to achieve desired points in CELPIP where as we can achieve at least 6 band in IELTS easily in each 4 category.
CELPIP doesn't have enough materials that is the main issue. Only they provided sample test on CELPIP.ca site and online materials but difficult to do practice if we want to achieve more than 4H in each category then it is very difficult.
From my CELPIP experience and what I've seen on forums like CanadaVisa, the Listening section is more straightforward than the IELTS Listening section because it uses Canadian audio and everyday scenarios. If you practice active listening, this part can build your confidence early on.

The Speaking section, however, was trickier. Unlike IELTS, which is face-to-face, CELPIP is fully computer-based and timed, which many find less natural and less stressful. The tight time limits and lack of human interaction make it harder for some to express themselves clearly.

Overall, Reading and Writing were manageable, but the lack of practice materials for CELPIP is a challenge compared to IELTS. CELPIP provides sample tests, but for serious prep, you’ll need additional resources. Both CELPIP and IELTS are accepted by IRCC for permanent residency, so the choice often depends on your comfort level with the test format.
