I’ve been working full-time (30-40 hrs/wk) since January, but my hours dropped to 24 hrs/wk for Nov & Dec. Same job, still paid. I understand that business is a bit slow during these times, pretty bummed about it but it is what it is.

I’m trying to claim the 10 pts for 1 year of Canadian experience.
Does this 2-month dip still count towards the 1 yr experience, or does the count start again once we return to regular working hours (I really hope not)?

In the document it only says

Additional points for at least 1 year of directly related experience in Canada

You may be eligible for additional points if you have at least one year of directly related work experience in Canada with an employer established in Canada.

• For the purposes of assessing your work experience in Canada, the BC PNP will only consider work experience that was obtained while you were legally authorized to work in Canada.

• If you were working 30 regular hours or more per week, you must have at least 12 months of work experience

• If you were working less than 30 regular hours per week, you must have at least 24 months of work experience

• Student work experience that is not part of a paid co-op work term does not count towards points for the one year of directly related work experience in Canada.

Anyone been through something similar?

Sorry, i'm a bit slow but what is the answer? I was working more than 30hrs/week but then my hours dipped this November to 27hrs/week. Would I still be eligible with this criteria: 'If you were working 30 regular hours or more per week, you must have at least 12 months of work experience'.

So did you work those hours each week in a calendar year to be eligible or not.

So you will be eligible once you meet the criteria and work more than one year.

I understand. I don't meet the criteria come January 2026 because I will only work less than 27hrs/week on November and December 2025 even though I worked for 30+/hr starting January to October 2025. Pretty gut wrenching but yeah.

What BC PNP are you eligible for with your job offer?

BC PNP Tech. There was an increase in PNP allocations so I was hoping I could get in through this stream by next year. But I don't think can now. I sent an email to BC PNP to clarify my situation but they take 5 business days to reply.
