It just divides total applicants by average monthly approvals to give you a rough idea of where you stand. But it doesn’t reflect real-time updates from IRCC’s internal system or consider background, security, or dependent factors.
That’s why sometimes the numbers look off. Someone from May 2023 might see a longer wait than someone from February, even though their files could both be close to completion depending on their category or stage.
So it’s more like an automated estimate to help applicants gauge the queue, not an official tracker managed by officers.
