Will expire August 2026
So have her extend VR. It is not a good idea if she leaves the country since your permit expires in one year. Plus you having a WP will weaken her profile because IRCC knows she is not a true visitor and has no ties to return. Best to stay in Canada on VR.

Since my lawyer applied for visitor record for my wife to restore her status as visitor and she get the VR ,is there was a way other than VR he could have applied instead of VR like visitor visa from inside Canada for example ?

Or that was the only option since she is not qualified for SOWP

A VR is to stay in Canada and is cancelled if she leaves. That is what she needed to apply for to stay in Canada with status. A visitor visa is to re-enter Canada if she leaves. She CANNOT apply for a visitor visa inside Canada on visitor record.

So lawyer is correct. You are mixing up the two as VR and TRV are two different applications with different purposes.

VR - maintain status and stay in Canada
TRV - to re-enter Canada as a visitor

Iam when she went out of status after we get refusal for her SOWP extension, they give us 90 day for restoration and since she's not qualified for SOWP so we have to restore as visitor

What he did he restore visitor record with out telling me
And when i find out that she cannot get TRV he told me, you could have told me she need to travel so I could have applied for visitor visa instead of VR

So what he said is true or wrong, is he was able to apply for visitor visa from inside Canada instead of VR

Your lawyer was correct that if SOWP was refused then needed to apply for visitor record to maintain status. If she must leave Canada then she applies for TRV outside Canada. Did lawyer also apply for TRV or just VR?

Just VR, she still in Canada and TRV is all I need but it seems there's no way
Then VR is what she needed to maintain status. Doesn't need TRV to stay in Canada. If she MUST leave then she applies for TRV outside Canada but may be refused and not allowed back to Canada. For TRV she needs to show cash and strong ties to return to home country.

Hi everyone,

I am a PR and have applied for inland spousal sponsorship for my wife; the application has completed the eligibility check stage.

She is on PGWP right now and wants to apply for the TRV sticker.

What should be the answer to the question below in this case?

Are you
  • a spouse, common-law partner or dependent child of a foreign worker who holds a valid work permit or is approved for a work permit. Not all family members of workers are eligible. Check if you are eligible to apply for an open work permit;
  • a person who holds a temporary resident permit that is valid for 6 months or more;
  • a person who applied for permanent residence to an office in-Canada and was determined to be eligible for permanent resident status (first stage approval); or
  • a person who applied for permanent residence in a program under Express Entry and is applying for a bridging open work permit
Yes or NO?

Thanks for any help.
