There is no need to call you have AOR and applications being processed are from 2022/23. There will likely be no change in your file for 1-2 years if not even longer unless there are reforms to the program or one of the few exceptional cases that get approval/refusal quickly.

Hello to all waiting gamers and members,

I would like to raise a news thread about H&C application. I know we already got few on this forum but you will agree with me that H&C still a mystery for most of his applicant.

Other immigration programs have so much threads and are well documented. So I wish we can create at least one more for H&C. I have to admit that these programs are less unpredictable in terme of processing time so it much easier to rely on another appliquant timeline to guess your's. But lets try to combine as much infos as we can to get an idea of what we are going...

You are incorrect. Submitted applications are rated for urgency in Vancouver and then assigned to a specific processing centre and officer. There are applications submitted over a year ago that do not even have their background checks started and yet applications submitted 6 months ago that do have their background checks started. The phone system gives this indication.

Biometrics: 4 Jan 2024
AOR: 9 Jan 2024


We arrived in Canada on a visitor visa on 5 Oct 2024. Since our six-month (180 days) stay was ending on 3 Apr 2025, we applied for a TRV extension from within Canada on 24 Mar 2025.


However, we have not yet received the AIP for our H&C application, and our extended six-month (180 days) period will end on 30 Sep 2025. We are also waiting for a decision on our TRV extension.


Can anyone advise what steps we should take to maintain our status in Canada?

H&C timeline:

• Applied: 9 Dec 2023
• Biometrics: 4 Jan 2024
• AOR: 9 Jan 2024
• Arrived in Canada: 5 Oct 2024 (visitor visa)
• Applied TRV extension: 24 Mar 2025 (before visa expiry on 3 Apr 2025)

Currently on implied status while waiting for a TRV extension decision. Still no AIP for H&C.


Question: What should we do to maintain legal status in Canada if there is no update on the TRV extension by the end of Sep 2025? I am aware of the 90-day restoration option if an extension is refused, but want to know the best approach in this situation.
