Given long processing time this is not going to be the case for @Morale who will likely need a full hearing. Some people who have been identified as less complex cases with very high chances of approval can be approved without hearing typically like your case in the days before the hearing. That is still a small minority of asylum cases in Canada. Many still have a short hearing and some still have a full hearing. The system was put in place to try to process cases with high chances of approval more efficiently and reduce costs. Even the system for less complex cases that have expedited processing has become overwhelmed and processing times have increased.
All less complex case are not same mine was streaming. usually this kind of less complex case got approve without hearing. Also, short hearing will happen!

Most less complex cases still require a hearing although often a short hearing. Assume you may be referring to virtual hearings which happens for all forms of asylum claims to try to redistribute workloads between various locations/provinces and not limit members from hearing cases in one location.

Agree, but that is very important what kind of less complex case subject you received. People think less complex letter is same but not.

We can not deny the fact that there is a huge backlog (over 240,000 cases) and IRB prioritizes some claims based on urgency or complexity, not just the date of application. Postponements, country of origin, and individual case details can also affect the timeline, so it’s possible for others who applied after you to get their hearings earlier.

If you from west Africa, I don know why but most west African case has delay , I know some of my friends, even more than 2 years. I recommend you to call RPD. They will explain why and where your case stack .

It is not stuck just the reality of a significant backlog. Many cases from West Africa have at minimum IFA which is why most don’t qualify for expedited processing.
