Applied in person in North York Service Canada office. Walk-in, normal processing.
Whole process from queuing up in line to receiving the receipt took about 3 hours.
Was told to expect it on Feb 19.

Anybody recently applied new passport in normal, did they call your guarantor and any references?
Unless it's an urgent request, they mostly won't call. As long as you gave them all the relevant details, don't sweat it.

Hi Guys, can anybody tell me if we need to take the passport-size photos again for the passport application? We did this two weeks before the Citizenship application, and it got approved,. So I heard people telling me we must take new photos for the passport application.
No. If your passport appointment falls within the 6 month window from the date that your photo was taken, you are good. No need to retake unless you aren't happy with the way you look in the photos.

When I applied today, the counter official said "Your photos were taken a while ago, eh?" (in Sept 2023)
But I said I still fall within the 6 month window for the photo and he didn't object/correct me.

Stupid Question Alert

Hi everyone,
What sections of the pptc153 document should I complete before printing, and which ones should I fill out afterwards? Are signatures the only part that needs to be filled in after printing the form?

Stupid Question Alert

Hi everyone,
Are signatures the only part that needs to be filled in after printing the form?
Yes. As well as the four sections by your guarantor: their signature, how many years they know you, the date, place, and province.

Best practice is to complete the form on Adobe Acrobat Reader in one sitting and then save the file once before printing. I tried filling it over a few sessions, saving it each time, but that caused some wonkiness and some of the radio buttons or fields would lose their interactive nature.

And make sure the signature FITS in the box and does not touch/cross over the borders.

Hey Pumpkin Latte, thanks a bunch for the thorough response! You always come through, even for stupid* questions! So, to clarify, you're suggesting it's better to handwrite ALL parts for the guarantor -even the date and place- rather than typing them out, right?

* I messed up by using non-transparent GIFs for the blinking warnings; now it looks 2X stupid against the blue background in your comment!

Yes. Just leave those fields alone. Print the form out and tell your Guarantor to hand write everything in CAPS. Except for the signature of course (preventing another possibly stupid question from being asked :p ;))

Haha, there are always stupid questions to ask! So, all the signatures MUST be in lowercase? right? lol:p
Thank's buddy

Hi, I am still waiting for my oath ceremony next month and would like to know in advance for the below:
what are the documents we need to submit if I go walk-in to apply for Canadian passport.
Also can we avail something called express service ( though I don't have any plan for travel) to get the passport early in hand.

You need:
1. The completed application form (including your guarantor's details, signature, date, and place)
2. Your original certificate of citizenship (which will be scanned and returned to you in person)
3. Your original driver's licence (or Photo ID card), Health ID card, or foreign passport. (i.e. 2 pieces of ID for face/signature/DOB)
4. Two identical Canadian-passport photos taken within the last six months, one must have the photo studio's address/date taken and your guarantor must state this bears true resemblance to <your full name> and they must sign underneath. Second photo needs no special treatment.

You can check the official website and download a copy of the form (Google it) and double check yourself.

Answer 2) Yes, you pay more and you can get express.
