2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

Honestly, I don’t understand what’s going on with this site. Last month I was at 16,500, and this month I’m at 9,800. So what happened to the 6,800 people who were ahead of me? And the processing time hasn’t changed — it still shows 30 months for me in Quebec

2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

Short answer: yes — what you wrote is logically correct, but legally and operationally IRCC does not treat it that way. A person may have passed security screening in 2019, but we must confirm again before granting PR in 2026. That's IRCC approach and this take a lot of time unfortunately.

You just updated your address, or did they ask for some proof like a lease or driver’s licence?

Can a protected person apply for PR through PNP or Express Entry

You’re right that for someone who is still in the process of getting protected status, it’s not possible to apply through another immigration stream yet. But for someone who has already been granted protected person status, it may be possible. PR through the protected person pathway is...

Can a protected person apply for PR through PNP or Express Entry

According to the lawyer, if you can achieve the required score for any PNP or PTSQ program, you are eligible to apply. There is no conflict with your current protected person status — you simply need to withdraw your existing PR application before submitting a new one. Your protected status will...

Can a protected person apply for PR through PNP or Express Entry

You should provide proof of your personal opinion. I said that, according to my consultation with a lawyer, there are no restrictions as long as you don’t use your original passport. You can simply withdraw your PR application under the refugee program and submit a new one through another stream.

Can a protected person apply for PR through PNP or Express Entry

Yes, you are correct. You’re eligible to apply for all immigration streams, according to what an immigration lawyer told me.

2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

Hi, I applied in May 2023 from Quebec, and I’m in the same situation as you. The wait time is 45 months, but there’s no guarantee we’ll actually get PR in 1.5 years. I think we should start contacting our MPs and raising our voices. On the other hand, the CAQ will change in October 2026, and...

2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

Honestly, I don’t know why. According to the GCMS notes, it should have been finished by late 2024, but it is still pending even now. For me, living in Quebec, it will still take about 18 more months, but for someone living in Ontario, it would already be done.
