Mississauga Citizenship Applicants

My MP's office got an update from IRCC that DM to Oath is taking approximately 4 months in Mississauga. I had sent email to my MP to check status of my application.

Pretty much the answer I got as well. They told me 'a couple of months'. So, hang in there.

We had our oath on the 21st of Feb and we informed the clerk that my husband was travelling on the 2nd of March . This trip had been planned and booked before we got our Oath invite . We sent the ticket and other documents requested for them to see the urgency of the trip . Up till now we have not gotten any reply to the mails sent . We called the call centre yesterday and we were informed that the certificate has been printed but not yet dispatched. Does anyone have any idea what we can do ? Apparently Missiuiauga office does not allow one to pick up citizenship certificates .

I am sure I read somewhere on this thread (or a different one) that they picked up their certificate from Mississauga office. I think there is little clarity on what they can / cannot do and it depends on the whims and fancies of your case officer.

Anyone knows how many people now attend an oath ceremony session in Mississauga office. Is there any significant increase in the oath session capacity! And how long roughly now between having the decision made and getting the oath invitation.

Congrats! Did you apply for urgent processing, with proof of need for travel?

Yes urgent process and ticket as proof of travel.

There was a recent post about 70+ people in one ceremony.

Timelines are unreliable. I’m currently at 2 months from DM. There are others who have been waiting since mid-2021.

Thanks. I still haven't reached your stage. I'm at 'Citizenship ceremony : Not started'. As they say in India, "the train is stuck at the outer signal".

According to the ATIP report, my paper file is on the 'Ceremony Ready Shelf' ; gathering cobwebs, I assume

It seems Agent XYZ1234 is taking sadistic pleasure in leaving it there.

What is ATIP report and how and I request in for my applicaition? Can any one request this informtion?

You can request for the status of your application under Access To Information & Privacy. It’s a pretty detailed report with timelines of what happened and when on your file. You can follow the link below

Some people do not believe in them, but I found them useful to understand what was holding up my application - not that there was much I could do about it.
