Hi everyone, been PR in Canada for 3 years, I will be traveling back to UK for my sisters wedding this June. I have recently lost my PR card and I'm unsure how I am to return to Canada as a permanent resident without it.
CIC website says I need to apply for a PRTD while abroad, which is impossible as the application processing time is up to 10 weeks and I only plan on spending a week or two in the UK

Seems my only option is to return through US border (which allows me to use my COPR) in a 'Private Vehicle' but I don't drive.. could I potentially walk accross?

Doesn't seem legitimate that I would be in such a difficult situation due to missing a piece of plastic, when I have various other ways of proving my PR.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You're right about the two options. Whether it feels legitimate or not, it's what you've got.

The first is to get a PRTD once you are outside of Canada. I don't know current processing times for the UK however I think they are probably less than 10 weeks. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

The other option would in fact be to fly to the US on your return trip and re-enter Canada through a US / Canada land border. If you don't drive, then yes - you can walk across at certain border crossings.

You should submit the application to replace your PR card asap. Always some chance that might arrive in time. Ask for it to be processed urgently and provide evidence of your flight tickets and the wedding.

To add - while it may be obvious, perhaps someone (family/friend) could pick you up.

And my understanding is that you can take a taxi also, it's a private vehicle for these purposes (the 'scheduled transport' means some specific transport definition like common carriers or those with scheduled routes or whatever - no buses for example).

What do you mean by "doesn't seem legitimate"? You think people who cross border at land POE are equivalent of illegals who jump the fence?
In fact it is as legitimate as flying in a commercial jet or taking a ferry.

You don't have to drive to the border, you can get a taxi to cross you over. All you have to do is fly from UK to one of the bordering States (closer to border is better), and then just take a ride across the border. Simple as that.

On a side note: Orwellian Triple Hermetic Secret Worshippers , aka Globalists who really are in control, take ordinary citizens for peasants, and treat them accordingly. In a Republic that had a government answerable to a common man, the instrument of travel would be provided in timely manner and upon request. Verifying databases and printing a PR Card technically and logistically shouldn't take more time than renewing a driver's license.
