Hi - have you received your OCI yet? What were your timelines?

Received the surrender certificate yesterday. OCI still under processing.

Has anybody recently applied for a Tourist visa to India ? I am checking to see if anybody has and if they can let me know how much time it took them to get it ? My file was accepted at the Ottawa consulate office on Feb 8 and since then it’s under processing. The website states that it can take 30 days and BLS told me it usually takes anywhere from 3 days to a couple of weeks. Please advise, thanks.

I got mine approved and dispatched via courier. Waiting for it to arrive. Took me about 6 working days to reach this status. I would say 2 weeks is the max you can expect for this process to fulfill.

Actually my question was different. What I was asking is:
If we go for in person appointment, and submit all the docs,
after all the paperwork and approval, do we have to pick up the docs in person
or do we have to pay for the courier, to get everything back?

I had to pay a courier to receive my document. I do not think they are allowing pickups at least in BLS Toronto. They are citing covid as a reason. This is in regards to the OCI application I made. They kept my canceled Indian passport as original (kinda weird) but I guess they really want to keep one original. The person next to me had his Canadian citizenship certificate taken as the original.

Entry Visa, if you hve Indian passport with surrender certificate then take Entry Visa (it has some benefits over Tourist Visa)

It seems to me they want to courier back atleast one original document (especially for OCI). The courier fees are pretty high (~$30). They chose to keep my cancelled indian passport for my OCI application (person next to me had his citizenship certificate). But yeah for surrender and Visa we need to submit our original indian and canadian passport respectively (they are eventually sent back with the certificate and visa via courier).

Hi. My Canadian passport is valid until 2025. I’d like to know if the OCI card has to be renewed on turning 50 or should I wait to renew the passport first and then renew the OCI in 2025? Thanks!

Hi, how did you submit your application? Was it walk-in, appointment or courier? They made me buy purolator courier this morning for $156 this morning

Mine was through courier ....However I have recently received acknowledgment..They charged i think 85$ for mine..depends on the location I think

Good advise, thanks bro. The only problem is that in BLS Vancouver, I am seeing appointments booked until mid-April - checking the slots multiple times everyday! I plan to submit my surrender + OCI together, I am assuming you did the same?

Yes. Vancouver jurisdiction still allows surrender + OCI together.
