Hello, I got my canadian work permit last month and still in India waiting for my baby's birth. My employer wants me in canada by end of march,so if I apply visitor visa for my newborn based on my WP, will I be able to get the visa approved within a month ?
Also can i apply in the new IRCC portal for my newborn's visitor visa, since i heard the new portal is only for people who are already residing in Canada ?

No, you will not get a visitor visa within a month. You will need the baby's documentation (passport) to apply too. As for the new portal, it will direct you to the correct one.

Thanks for response. Ya, i have planned to get the Birth certificate, passport as early as possible and then apply for the visa. So i guess IRCC will not prioritize any applications just because its for a newborn ?
I also have another question, newborn's mother has canadian PR , if we apply for VV under this scenario does that help with processing ?

There is no expedited processing. The mother being PR complicates matters as she should be sponsoring your child. Does she meet residency obligations? If the mother is PR, she has to sponsor the child but she has to be within Canada. Again, all you can do is apply for the visitor visa and wait for approval or refusal.

Wow thats frightening to hear. Baby's mother doesnt meet residency obligations, she lived close to 8 months as PR in canada before returning to India for our marriage and then lockdown happened followed by baby so she coudnt return.

We thought of getting VV for baby first, then all of us travel to canada and apply for PR sponshorship once in canada.

BTW, my WP is a closed work permit by my employer and not tied to my wife's PR. So we thought of a worst scenario as me travelling to canada first on my WP and then invite my baby by raising VV in the new portal which few people are saying is being processed within a month or two. Do you think there will be any issues with this approach ?

When does her PR card expire? If she doesn’t meet residency obligations then she can’t sponsor your or the child until she is in Canada and does meet RO. All you can do is try for a visitor visa. @scylla may have some very helpful advice.

Her PR expires on March 2024, so as per the calculations she should enter canada before Aug/sep of this year and stay till end of PR to achieve the RO of 730 days stay within canada.

What do you think about below approach, will this cause any issues for the wife/babies travel at the POE ?

A PR Parent can opt for dual intent, submit TRP and PR Sponsorship at the same time. Processing within a month or two may or may not be possible. I am aware of someone with WP gave birth out of CA and apply TRV for the baby, She waited for 4months. However, She was in different region with longer processing time than you are. You dont need invitation for that.

okay, so are you saying that i can apply for TRV for the baby under mother without invitation by choosing the option "To visit a parent who is a canadian citizen or PR" eventhough she is outside of CA.

No invitation is required, you dont need that for a dependant child, especially own baby.
