Hi all,
Like to get your inputs on this.

work permit from 02 sep 2017 - 18 may 2018

applied for visitor visa few weeks before my work permit expiry date.

then after waiting for couple of months received docs under Visitor record status.
Date issued: 18 July 2018 expiry date : 18 Nov 2018

1.What is my status during this gap period between 18 may 2018 - 18 july 2018? Is it under work or visitor status.
2.Also in physical calculator drop down list which type I have to select for visitor record status. Is it visitor or Temporary resident permit holder

Thanks
This is not clear, were you under a bridging work permit once your work permit expired? Or were you working on visitor visa?

hello

Q1. Do I need to get a police certificate from USA ? here's my situation, I am an Indian national, was residing in the USA from 2015 to 2018.

1. Landed Nov 2018 as a Permanent Resident of Canada from USA
2. All of 2018 was in the US (more than 183 days criteria fulfilled) before landing in nov 2018

Q2. Can I use the same Police certificate from USA that I provided for Permanent resident application ?

Thanks.
I am not exactly sure about this myself. Have you been to the US since you landed in Canada?

If so, then it might make using the old PCC trickier. Another option could be you can wait out a few extra days until the time spent in the US is less than 183 days at a stretch?

Hello, like to request your inputs for this question (I am filling up the paper based form for a family of 4)

Q13 Tell us if you have had immigration, permanent resident status and/or citizenship in any other country outside of Canada (e.g. your country of birth)
I have mentioned citizenship of India (since birth)
My question was - Do we need to mention all the tourist/transit visas that we have held over the years in this section? All of these were visitor (tourist) visas. The only long-term was a 10 year US B1/B2 visa that expired back in 2017 (the actual trip to the US was back in 2007, no visits subsequently)

Q12 b Tell us when you filed your income taxes in the last five (5) years using the chart below
For tax Year 2021, is it OK to select "Required to file - YES", but "Taxes filed- No" as it's still early for the tax filing

Thanks in advance, and wish you a wonderful 2022.

I was also confused about this but it seems one has to give all immigration statuses such as student, visitor etc.

Yes, this is fine. Almost everybody who is sending this application in the beginning of the year will have to write "No" for taxes filed for that year.

Hi @rajkamalmohanram

Would you mind confirming if we need to list/show the old passport that was cancelled BEFORE the eligibility starts, but it’s expirty date would have been within the eligibility period had it not been renewed?

In other words, take the following as an example

old passport: (from 2010/10/01–2020/10/01), but cancelled on 2018/10/01 due to renewal.

new passport: (From 2018/10/01–2028/10/01).

Eligibility period: 2018/12/01–2023/12/01.

would the old passport need to be included in the citizenship application?

thanks!
No, you don't have to if your eligibility period starts on or after 2018/10/02.

I didn't get any sponsor for work permit after my initial closed work permit expired. I planned ahead to keep my status so applied for visitor visa before my work permit expiry date. I didn't do any work during my visitor status.

As far as I understand, when you apply for a status extension you are allowed to stay pending decision. But in your case you had 2 months where you had applied for a status change, so the situation is slightly different.

I can't be completely sure about this but if I had to take a guess it seems like you should be on temporary status i.e. as a visitor during that time since you were waiting for your visa to arrive.

Maybe @rajkamalmohanram can confirm.

If you applied for an extension BEFORE your visa expired, you are considered to be on implied status while you wait for a decision on your visa application. Implied status is NOT the same as "Out of status". Implied status is a valid and legal status in Canada.

@rajkamalmohanram many thanks for your response to enclosed query!

I held H-1B visa in US between 2015 to 2018. However its duration was further split between two different employers. So to answer Question 13, should I include it under one single entry (2015 to 2018) or list them separately (2015 to 2017 as one entry followed by 2017 to 2018 as a separate entry)?

Reference:
Question 13.
Tell us if you have had immigration, permanent resident status and/or citizenship in any other country outside of Canada (e.g. your country of birth)
  • Check either yes or no.
  • If you check yes, complete the chart.
  • Tell us which countries you have held status in, and exactly what status you held or currently hold (student, employment/worker, refugee/protected person, permanent resident or citizen).
  • Date you obtained each status(YYYY-MM-DD)
  • End date if no longer valid, if applicable (YYYY-MM-DD). Leave blank if you currently hold this status

For the purpose of Q13, you can club it into a single entry IMO.

Hi Raj.
Appreciate for your reply.
I know that I am on legal status. My initial question was will it come under visitor or work status. But looks like it falls on visitor status.
