For now, they will most likely treat it like they did with delta, by banning direct travel from the source(like that helped), and wait out the results from testing vaccine efficiency on that variant. Once they saw 2 dose offered protection against delta, they stopped caring. When delta came out, everyone panicked as well, thinking vaccines would be useless, so panic is just useless at this point. My worry is only if they will start baning other countries meanwhile, if comunity transmission starts elsewhere. A good study will probably take at least 30 days.
You are absolutely right. The point is that they did not issue any pprs during that time.Next week is most significant in this regard. If they still ask for re-medical and issue pprs then it’s perfectly fine

They weren’t issuing before either, nor they had plans to. They were still mid vaccination when delta hit in April, but we’ll see how it plays out.

The issue is that this new variant could blow things out of proportion at anytime and we could lose all the progress made with regards to application processing for outlanders and travel restrictions within a matter of days. We are already seeing some restrictions taking place and Europe is taking an extremely cautious stance against the new variant. Canada may follow suit as well. I hope and pray this is not the case but we’ll see

Great! with the news of Omicron it looks like IRCC will be holed up at home indefinitely and we’ll be in this perpetual waiting loop for ever.

Truly if this situation resets us to start of 2021 it would sting badly.

Sadly it looks like 2022 will be just like 2021. Media works for the pharma lords so we can understand the story they're building for 2022. Closed borders means inland-only is back. I was quite sure after 2 years they'd drop the 2021 style covid lie and go with the 2x vax / year thing but it seems money lords aren't getting enough with just that; for some reason they also need to lock people in. Average processing time is already close to 2 years for FSW (21 months) so we can safely assume that it'll take 2-3 years to land from 2022.

If one has $100,000 stashed up, study route begins to make sense now. If (and only if) one has that kind of money they can study and not live like a rat or a dog in Canada while studying. Couple it up with PGWP that's already 5 years. Hope that pharma lords are done with the covid project by then so you can get PR. But you'd be inland anyway so you probably would get your PR covid or no covid.

I think only flight ban and travel restrictions will happen.
Other than that IRCC will keep progressing with its goal to clear backlog.
They cannot afford to go back all the way at this point.
Sincerely hope so. If not, I think we are all fucked.
