Hi, I'm from Indonesia. I'm still new to flying. I would like to travel to Canada, but I have never flew anywhere but Australia. What are the things I need to gather and present to apply for a visitor kind of visa to Canada. I'm just looking for a holiday trip to Vancouver.
Any tourist tips and guides would be wonderful!.

Are you fully vaccinated with AZ, Pfizer, Moderna or J&J? When did you travel to Australia and for how long? Approximately how much savings can you show? Do you own property? Are you employed in a well paying longterm job?

Hello, to answer your questions...

Are you fully vaccinated with AZ, Pfizer, Moderna or J&J?
Yes, I am vaccinated with the Sinovac vaccine.

When did you travel to Australia and for how long?
My last travel was from Australia was 2019. Unfortunately, I did overstay a bit and was penalized 3 year ban. I didn't expect that kind of punishment so severe. I would like prevent so in future trips. I hope this doesn't influence my future trips either.

Approximately how much savings can you show?
I have around 20 thousand dollar in savings. What's the recommended amount? I don't think I want to bring that many when I'm oversea either. How much should I carry when going for a 2 weeks trip?

Do you own property?
My mother own some land and property. I don't really own any kind of property. Maybe it will be passed down to me, that's all I know.

Are you employed in a well paying longterm job?
Yes, I'm a full time software engineer. I work for a national company that has a base in Korea, Singapore, Japan and America.

Are these all okay? How can I mitigate any errors I made?

Thanks in advance.

Your vaccine is not recognized in Canada so you would not be able to enter as a tourist. So don’t apply until restrictions are lifted.

Thanks! Do you have any idea when that would be? I'll check in again early next year. I'll try pick another destination for a holiday for now.

You will need to declare your Australian overstay in your application for a TRV to Canada. This will weaken your application.

Is there a way to increase to my chance? It is something from a long time ago.

Do you mean the Australian overstay? If so, I would say that's extremely recent. It only happened in 2019.

Do the following to increase your chances of the TRV for Canada being approved:
- Make sure you declare the Australian overstay in your TRV application. Otherwise you are risking that Canada will refuse you and then ban you for 5 years for misrepresentation.
- Show strong proof of funds. It sounds like you have $20K which is good.
- Keep your trip relatively short (e.g. 3 weeks).
- Show strong ties to your home country. You don't have property so that unfortunately isn't something you can show. You will want to show strong evidence of your employment including an employment and leave letter from your employer.

Thank you so much! I will try and see these through.

As others have mentioned your relatively recent overstay creates issues for you. Would also suggest trying to visit the US or other country with tougher visa requirements. US tends to be the easiest. Once you have accumulated more proof that you will not overstay and your ban has expired you may have a better chance. Australia and Canada share immigration data so IRCC will be able to see your overstay which is why it is important that you be upfront with the overstay.
