Hello everyone,

I'm planning my first trip to India and would love some advice from travelers who have already explored the country.

India is incredibly diverse, and with only about 10–12 days available, I'm trying to decide which destinations would provide the best introduction to the country. I'm interested in experiencing a mix of culture, history, local food, architecture, and natural beauty.

At the moment, I'm considering:

  • Delhi
  • Agra
  • Jaipur
  • Udaipur
  • Kerala

A few questions:

  1. Which destinations would you recommend for a first-time visitor to India?
  2. Is the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur) worth including in a 10-day itinerary?
  3. Would you choose Udaipur or Kerala if you had to pick just one?
  4. What is the best time of year to visit India for sightseeing?
  5. Are there any hidden gems that international tourists often miss?
  6. How easy is it to travel between major cities in India?
  7. Any tips regarding local transportation, food, or cultural etiquette?

I'm particularly interested in historical landmarks, local culture, photography, authentic food experiences, and meeting local people.

Looking forward to hearing your recommendations and personal experiences.

Thanks in advance!

I would say, go to Kerala. Being Gujarati, We visited Kerala, Tamilnadu for 4 times.. Last one in this April, but just wanna say, Visit during Winter of India especislly when its not that much hot. Also, if possible add Delhi for couple of days so, you can enjoy south & north india - both's culture, traditional food and Delhi had some good tourist places.

For Udaipur/Rajsthan, thats also good.. It has desserts, old castles, old city vibes.

As far as etiquette is conerned, Indian are good but as no country is perfect, you might face some scammers as well so be careful. Most of people are really good, will offer free food to tourist for most of cases.. But be smart & aware from some people who overcharge you for cab, so be careful , may be use Uber, Ola for cab booking, etc. Also, make sure Hotel when you gonna stay is good & has great location.Until, that Welcome to India!
