Just fyi - I called Canada Passport today hoping to get an update on my application. I sent my application by mail on Oct 26th and haven't heard back since. The agent told me that the expected waiting time now is about 8 weeks.
So, it’s confirmed… it’s 2 months / 8 weeks standard waiting time

well, in their case it was, but most in the forum lately have had much quicker response times, so I don't think that's across the board. plus, that's probably for complicated cases that are difficult to confirm; e.g. unresponsive references or guarantor, missing items, gaps in information, etc

The guarantor does need to complete all 3 things... sign the photos, complete and sign the application section, and sign front and back copies of the forms of identification.
This may be the case for mail in application, I did submitted in-person so only required guarantor sign on photo and application form.

hmm... the online instructions say that all the identity document copies should be signed too, even on the in-person instructions, I wonder if this has anything to do with your delay. cause in-person is supposed to be done faster in 10 business days with status in 5 business days. has your guarantor or others been contacted? sorry, I thought you were mail in all this time because this forum is mail in applications.

My application is very standard and from what the agent told me, everything is being processed without issue. I think it's just the new reality for mail-in applications.

It was delivered on Oct 28th, I sent it to the Varennes office in Gatineau. It's definitely taking longer than I expected lol
yeah that's odd... I sent to the same office and mine was delivered on the Oct 29th but my credit card was charged Nov 3rd. no update since the charge tho. I've read from others tho that it varies when they charge your card, so it may not mean anything. sometimes I read you'll even be charged after you've already received everything back. they really seem to be teaching us patience more than anything (laughs)

I know right? Luckily I won't need a passport anytime soon, so I don't mind the wait. I'm just nervous about getting my citizenship certificate back... I really wish we didn't have to include the original

yeah same here, I did read tho that if they lose it in the mail that IRCC will send a replacement at no extra charge, so that's a relief
