Hello everyone,

I am an international student at Alberta and I just started this Fall. I found an employer in BC who's willing to hire me on a NOC B job (related to what I study) with LMIA. Does anyone know what are the possible repercussions if ever I accept the job? And will it possibly affect my PR application in the future in a negative way?

Thank you.

No impact to PR.

The only thing you should do is remain in school as a full time student until the actual work permit is approved (not just the LMIA, but the work permit itself). We have in some instances seen work permit refused in these situations. So remain in school full time until you have the results of your work permit to make sure you maintain your status as a student in case there are any issues getting the work permit.

Thank you for sharing your insight! I will keep that in mind.

Have you been studying full-time since September? What kind of job is this? How did you find this job? Does the employer already have an LMIA? Some of these jobs are often part of immigration fraud.

Yes, I have been studying full time. It is a construction surveyor job and a resident friend of mine who worked there for a couple of years is leaving and that is why they are looking for a replacement. They are still waiting for my response.
